Kenwood needs to make software for IPAD, IPhone, and Mac OS. Love the radio but haven’t owned a PC for over 15 years.

I just got my D75A Yesterday and I like it! it's Work very well with the Bluetooth Terminal Mode, I use this Feature with my Android, with Blue DV Connect, you can use Your phone as a Bluetooth hotspot,

I bought the 74 when it came out some time ago, about $600.00 in price. Isold mine a few years ago, I did not like the battery life, and I had 2 of them. Additionally, I sold my IC 705, Yaesu FT991, and Yaesu FT3D, as an aside, because I don't have much use for Fusion, C4FM, and D STAR anymore I started with DSTAR in 2010, with an ICOM 880 mobile as it was it then. I gave my ICOM ID52, to a needy ham, also to leave DSTAR. I only have DMR now, and now know how to program DMR Code Plugs. When Yaesu had the special offer for $500.00, for the first Fusion repeater, I think the DR1X, our club bought it, but there was little interest by club members to obtain the equipment. Now, our Tech Support person has obtained a DMR repeater to be used on one of our two UHF club machines.😊73 de Ray, licensed 62 years.😊

$700.00 price tag is good for this radio because it is a tri Bender! 144, 220, 440, also 5 watts on all three bands,

The ID-52 has GPS locations for Analog / Digital, the TH-D75 only has it for DV/DR.

That is very perplexing. I am loving the GPS near-repeater feature in my ICOM 5100.

the guy from Kenwood is yes, both the ID52 icon and the D75 only search D-star,

a replacement for the 710 would be great, however I would like to see a competitor for the ft-891.... As for the 710, I added a btspp homebrew for that. It does aprs and kiss as well.

Clarification, the TH-D75 will work with Apple Laptops, just not their phones/tablets.

Nice ... looking at yaesu ft5dr and this one. I don't care about aprs and there is no dstar repeaters near here ... my club members only use dmr. Is there any reason I've overlooked why I should buy this over the yaesu? Thanks

Kenwood needs to update their Product Registration system. Does not have TH-D75A in drop down menu and does not allow data entry.

I am not complaınıng ın anyway as I love my D74. I just wısh the Bluettoth would work wıth IOS for ipad and that there was software for the ipad to control the radıo not just software to for memories. I use the 72 for duplex if i need to, but the bluetooth and software issues means I will not upgrade to the 75 in fact i will be unlikly to upgrade any of my kenwood radios going forward unless the bluetooth changes. My 710g could do with an update but again without ios bluetooth use i guess it will last for some more years to. Maybe kenwood could offer a upgrade version for a cost of course. Excellent video and Don is always pricless

Kind of hilarious saying the D-75 could be even more expensive. If full duplex was done in the D-72, why are they saying it's about cost with the D-75?

OK, I heard him say that if you power the DC IN with an external battery it has to be at least 12 amp capable battery. Why would that be? This rig surely would never, ever draw even nearly that many amps, even on 5 watts transmit. Did he mean a 2 amp capable external battery? I have a small AGM battery that is rated for up to 9 amps and I'm planning the operate with it if possible. So I think he misspoke and didn't mean a 12 amp capable battery. I don't have the TH-D75 (on it's way) but I do have a copy of the User Guide. But I can't find anything about using external batteries or even anything about powering from a vehicle cigarette outlet.

The TH-D74 had a known issue with bricking the radio if you transmitted while plugged into the wall wart. The issue has (likely) been resolved on the D75, but (for obvious reasons) people don't really want to test that. So, it's safer to make sure you are driving the radio with enough current to overcome the charging circuit. Nobody wants to brick the $750 radio. :)
