This is what my brand new scope does, when changing acquire settings.

The manufaturer has issued a new firmware patch for this error. The version number is fpga3203. I have not experienced this issue any more since the update. Unfortunately I only received the update package in an email message from the Hantek developers, without any documentation or explanation. So it remains a mystery if this is an issue with some or all the newly manufatured scopes. There may be a new version of the fpga chip or it just could have been a certain batch affected. It might have something to do with chip shortages as well. We don't know for sure. If you have this problem, I recommend installing the FW patch.

I was thinking to buy this oscilloscope but this recording issue put me off a bit. It sounds promising however that the FW update seems to fix the problem, but it seems very strange that they don’t make it available on their website. Perhaps they still work on validating the firmware before they make it officially available. Do you still feel confident that the FW update fixed the problem completely?

@@Utube2Itube Yes, I am quite confident this issue is gone. It used to be very easy to reproduce just in a few seconds as you can see in the video. Unfortunately other users who had this problem remained quiet about their results, but I have a feeling they would have complained has it not been solved. You are right, it is not available on the wesite, but I think the reason for that it is not for all devices, only the ones having this issue. Also, it seems only new FW updates for the CPU are ever published but not the FPGA chip. Meanwhile there was an update from a buyer in Swisserland about a new FPGA FW that he found on his freshly bought scope. He was kind enough to upload it to David Alfa's Google Drive Folder. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Tqk8YbL_M3S0vtk7h_cZ-01U2idIaqqx I have already tested this version, 3204. It performs well on my unit. So, while the FW is not published on the website, it looks like newly manufactured devices are shipping with a new FPGA version that has the above fix incorporated.

My scope also has this problem, but when set to low memory depth and high sample rate (250GSa/s or higher). Also, these spikes come in a train of them, periodically. It seems that those spikes do not allow the scope to stabilize the waveform on screen. Above 9 MHz, the oscilloscope is unusable. Even new versions of firmware did not solved the problem.

The question is this: do you want to be a guinea pig for so called equipment manufacturers that fail to invest in research & development and quality control before releasing a product on the market? If the answer is yes, then suck it up and beg for post sale service and performance updates. If the answer is no, choose good equipment, designed and tested seriously, from the well established manufacturers, paying the right prices and only for what you need. You want a good oscilloscope? Fine, than choose one that offers you the best oscilloscope performance possible, without being cluttered by a lot of additional "features" that fail to perform at their best. Invest in dedicated components for the specialized tasks. Choose piece of mind over frustrations! Choose quality and reliability over junk and lies!

I am going to buy and sell scope, and was thinking of getting this model until I read your comment. I 110% agree. despite the fact that it is pretty cheap and a have a lot of extra functions ,I’ve been seeing a lot of negative videos and l reviews about the scope having multiple glitches and issues. So I agree, but Can you recommend me a better scope please?

Hi I´ve had this scope, lots of issues ass others say. Returned and bought a RIgol, so far no problems. It´s a shame no patch could solve this particular issue, like other user said not only shows the noise, it introduces that noise in the DUT (RF linear amp). Again, must be hardware because no update or patch could fix it. Hope this helps.

I have same problem. large oscillations appear to be generated when number of store points is increased . i say oscillations are generated (not just displayed) because my 433MHZ receiver, on my PCB under test, starts to receive and process a lot of this noise. I remove the probe, my RF receiver still is getting lots of RF noise. When i reset the DSO2D10, the scope screen is clean, and my PCB RF receiver stops reacting to the RF noise from the scope.

That is an interesting observation. Could you describe the exact measuring scenario, so I can try mine? What device are you measuring? What are your connections? Scope settings? Is the signal gen on or off? Is the noise on a well defined frequency or all over? What type of reaction do you get on the receiver? How does it process the signal? I don't have a spectrum analyser, but maybe I can find something poking around with HAM receivers. I haven't opened mine, but I remember from teardown videos, that the electronics are fully shielded in a metal case all around, so there shouldn't be any RF noise coming from or going into the scope. Maybe through the connected leads? Have you checked that the scope is properly grounded?

Bought the DSO2D15 model, only months later I discovered it has Trigger Level problems with signals below 300 mVpp. I did all the firmware updates, still the traces run on the display, no way to stop them. Things get worse if you keep the oscilloscope on for more than ten minutes. Then, if you select a 50 mVpp sine wave with the internal signal generator, the image is strongly noisy, distorted. I contacted Hantek several times, they wanted a video of mine showing the issue. Sent the video twice in a month, then Hantek disappeared. I re-sent a final e-mail today, I am waiting for a sign of life from them. At this moment no help at all, their after sale sucks. I did a BIG mistake, I should have bought a Tektronix instead but you only learn these things later...

Don't give up yet, it took them 2 months to fix my issue and there was no feedback either. Their customer support is not the best. Be nice to the support, they are not the people responsible for the problems. However, you must also understand, this is a cheap scope. It might be that it is not suitable for your needs. If you can afford a Tektronix, you should get that. For me it is good enough, but I spent months researching the right device. The handheld scopes are childrens toys, not worth the price. Fnirsi bench scope is a joke. If I had listened to my heart I would have bought a Rigol, but they start above 400EUR, I could not afford it. So this Hantek is an acceptable compromise for me. Tektronix is out of my league.

Thank you for your message. I've always been super nice with the tech support guys. After almost two months, however, I can say that if it had not been for my insistence I would not have even had the latest firmware update file, which, however, has not improved the situation. Having known before that this oscilloscope has trigger problems with signals below 1 Volt, I would certainly have taken an entry level of a more serious brand.

@@hjuanguilherme106 Their after-sale support sucks. They just sent me the latest firmware update file, then they disappeared. I am still waiting for their reply to my last e-mail. My problem is still there, can't properly see signals below 0.5 Vpp and the function generator is a toy, the waveforms have poor resolution for small signals. Does this company seem professional to you?

Hi, please is this scope good for serial decode?, Thanks :)

It is ok if you want to quickly check if there is some communication there. You can't see more than 20 chars (or less) because when in "decode" mode only 4k points are stored.

@@andrzejm7246 The scope has a Flash Deal on Banggood but I don't think it has anything to do with it. First, the device arrived in immaculate condition in the factory sealed box. Second, other users have this issue too and they purchased from Ali. Hantek uses these channels to sell their products. Believe me, BG is making a profit over the wholesale price. I have also bought other products from BG and also in Flash Deals, all arrived in factory sealed boxes. No issues whatsoever. So if you live in the EU, I recommend BG, they have good prices, brand new products, ship fast from within the EU and duty free. I have seen posts about the 0105 SW, it fixes an issue with the GND coupling offset. As I can see Hantek is working hard on fixing issues reported, they release patches often. However at the moment we don't know if this is a hardware or software problem.
