Welcome to my Deep Purple - Burn Reaction
Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in London in 1968. They are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, but their musical approach has changed over the years. Originally formed as a psychedelic rock and progressive rock band, they shifted to a heavier sound with their 1970 album Deep Purple in Rock. Deep Purple, together with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, have been referred to as the "unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal in the early to mid- seventies"
Regards,
Detrucci
Ian Gillan vocals.
If you didnt see my reaction to Highway Star then do check that out :)

Deep Purple is an exceptional group of very talented musicians. They can do it all. Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore leading this group to produce it's unique sounds mixing rock with neoclassical influences. I would also recommend checking out the lead guitarist (Blackmore) when he formed his next band Rainbow. He combined his talents with lead singer Ronnie James Dio, and eventually Cozy Powell. They are another exceptional group. Start with the song "Stargazer", it's just epic.

UK music historian and radio broadcaster John Peel in 1970`s said Blackmore`s guitar work on the 1964 tunes was the birth cry of heavy metal - the Outlaws single Keep a Knockin and Shake with Me - truly wild guitar from 1964

Back in the day I remember going to a friend of a friends house to listen to music. I checked out his record collection , he had one Black Sabbath album , 2 led Zeppelin , 2 jethro Tull , and 11 Deep Purple albums. 🤣🤣

Great reaction Detrucci. I like your style. So expressive and I dig how you really pay attention to the songs and pick up on things that we may have missed. You’re right about this riff; this is my favorite Deep Purple song and I’ve listened to it probably thousands of times over the past five decades, and as soon as it’s over I want to hear it again.

You might note in the 70`s the music press would always call Purple heavy metal or the Kings of Heavy Metal etc, etc, thousands of articles from the era using the term heavy metal and it was being used by many in the music media as a derogatory term .... Rolling Stone magazine in 1973 said they regained their throne as the Kings of Heavy Metal with the release of Made in Japan

And ,, yes ,, another good one by DEEP PURPLE to show that they was and is the greatest hard rock band ever !!!! IAN PAICE on the drums YESSSS !!! Now you need to check out SPEED KING ,, or ,, RAT BAT BLUE ,, Highway Star , Lazy , Woman From Tokyo , Space Truckin from the album MADE IN JAPAN ,, there's just way too many to mention here !! DEEP PURPLE was highly underrated , they had an amazing line up of musicians , David Coverdale could sing very well , but he was not IAN GILLAN !!!!

This is one of the top 3 hard rock bands in the world. It's easily the best early 70s band. 130 million lps sales top gate receipts and lps sold in 73. That's your answer. Live no one could touch them.

Love the reaction! Think it will remind everyone of when they first heard it too! I'd suggest going back to 1970 and their In Rock album - Child In Time you've done, so Speed King or Hard Lovin' Man - but they are a "Live" band, so you should make sure you check out the unedited Made In Japan tracks after which are just incredible!

The 2nd solo was not guitar is was the incomparable John Lord playing a solo on a Hammond B3 organ, he routed the Hammond through a guitar amp and often played guitar like solos on it, and of course he played the more traditional organ solo later on in track too, such an immense talent, check out Child In Time Live 1970 to see his insane skills live, also his solo on Lazy is epic. They were considered part of the unholy trinity of bands that founded metal, they were Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zepplin.

Purple weren't metal. They were heavy rock. The heavy metal genre didn't exist in their heyday of the early to mid 70s. They were however an enormous influence on the emerging genre. Deep Purple, alongside Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, are called the 'Godfathers of Heavy Metal, as well as the 'Unholy Trinity''. None were exactly metal but between them, they laid the foundations of the genre and were a massive influence on all early metal bands and most metal bands since. Bear in mind that some members of these bands, particularly Zeppelin, HATE being called metal! :)

Deep Purple is and never has been a metal band. They are a Hard Rock Band. Think Of Bands like Led Zeppelin. Kiss. AC/DC, Van Halen. These are hard Rock bands. Bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Opeth, Scorpions. These are Metal bands. Hard rock bands tend to have more of a straight boogie rock feel to them to being more of having more of a bluesy vibe to them, which makes you wanna dance and move your hips, as oppose to banging your head and throwing up some horns 🤘

@@martinm1231 first of all, David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes were part of the Mark III era of the band and they both have great sets of pipes. Also the idea of metal not having singers is just dumb. Ronnie James Doo, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, all amazing singers
