Listened to deep purple in the late 60s . While growing up in Fiji islands. Great memories. What a great band. Moved to America in 1973. Saw rainbow with graham bonnet and cozy and come taste the band tour with Tommy bolin. Still the greatest band

As a new guitar student back in the early 80's. 82 or maybe 83? This is what I was raised on as a Violinist, classical guitarist, and sometime around 82, or 83, an electric guitarist. Richie was my lord and mentor. Friends would say, WOW, you play just like Eddie Van Halen, or Yngwie Malmsteen, or Steve Vai. And at that time, I had know idea who those guitarists were. Because I was only listening to Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Cream, Sabbath, and many other British Invasion guitarists. Beck, Page, Blackmore, Clapton, Moore, Iommi, Hendrix, Les-Paul, Howe, Akkerman, McLaughlin, and so many others from that early 70's round up of guitar virtuosos. My mother and older brothers were guitarists before me, and they infected me with, what an old friend referred to as, "The Sickness!" (A never ending quest to fulfill my musical desires.) My only explanation for their praise of my playing, and familiar melodic chops, was, "My favorite guitarist is Richie Blackmore!" And he was my greatest influence, as was he to all the others they compared me to. As a young inspiring guitar player, very much inspired by Blackmore, so were they too who which they compared me to. His amazing tremolo, Vibrato, Legato, Sweep Arpeggio, and, YES, Tapping techniques, were all inspired by Richie. I have to many influences to this day to recall. But back in 82 at the age of 12, Richie was my hero, my mentor, influence, my favorite guitarist ever, still to this day. I owe to him all my technical, and live stage performance skills. And I know just what you are all thinking. Who the fuck is this guy giving us his life story. I am "Ted Cabana" Teacher, and Performer of the national recording artist-band, "CryBaby Creek". Look us up where ever music is sold, and decide for yourself if I brought that Blackmore spirit into modern hard rock music. Again, I love you all, my guitar bro's. I could never find a better group of people to hang with than fellow guitarists. Especially those who know Blackmore's style. I will buy you all a round of drinks and talk guitar shop all night if you evert come to meet me. Just mention this post, and the party will go all night. "God bless the keepers of the strings." That's in the Bible, somewhere, I'm sure! Love you all. Peace! and keep that fucking spirit alive!!!!!!!!!

You had no idea who Eddie Van Halen was in '82 or '83? Lol. Ok.
@tedcabana Жыл бұрын
@@andyskiles9542 I never really heard much of VH before the 1984 album when MTV started playing their videos. I grew up on classic rock, and in the early 80's that was Beatles, Yardbirds, Purple, Creem, Hendrix, Zeppelin.... Different Radio.

One of the many reasons I love Blackmore is because of his mix of mediaeval and middle Eastern scales and tones. Also, because I always hear a bit of melancholy in his playing, biting and vicious as it was. For someone whi didnt much care for funk, he IS funky! And he really understands the Blues.
