All started by one loser that you even helped out in the first place by promoting his products. My heart goes out to you. These people are scum, a term I rarely use. I'm glad you're taking action against them. My friend won a defamation case over Facebook and the loser who was bullying him got a £2,700 fine. Since you own a business online you can sue for A LOT more as you can prove that they caused damage to your business. There's no way I'd have let him just apologise. I'd have taken that bully to court no doubts. Also, he's kind of an idiot too. Saying things like "he's a pedo" is blatantly defamation since there's no proof. He was just asking to be sued the stupid fool. I like how he said "the hatchet's buried" too. As if he's the one who gets the last say in things. I genuinely hope you sue that jerk and any metal detectorists out there - please boycott his products because of his lack of ethics. People like that should not get by on YOUR dollar. Thanks for the advice Dan, been having some troubles myself lately, and I am doing what you did and keeping copies of everything in a file and keeping myself to myself. I cant imagine how bad you felt while all this was going on and having to deal with it on your own. At the end of the day, haters will never outsmart someone with intelligence. I've been a subscriber for a few years now, and I find it sickening that someone would spread rumours about someone who is legitimate and professional. Dan is pretty much the definition of gentleman, he handles everything the way he's supposed to. Keep up the great work Dan!

As a fairly casual viewer of your channel (I don't metal detect, I just like your videos) I hope it will console you to know that this is the 1st time I heard of this. Unfortunately people in the metal detecting circles may have been mislead, but I suspect a large part of your audience missed all this entirely. Dan, I have been watching you for a couple of years, and I must say that you have a level of class that is hard to find in a lot of people. Your videos have always been entertaining, and informative. This guy is beneath you, and his video only proves it beyond a doubt. He made himself look stupid, while trying to act contrite about something he was not sorry at all about. You letting it go, only shows what kind of class act you are. I am proud to be a viewer of yours, and will continue to be so as long as you upload.

This is a damn shame Dan. Im really sorry this happened. What's worse is i didn't know what he was actually doing to you... As I watched the video, I realized that he did the same thing to me. I wouldn't promote his products... it all began from there. Like you, I said nothing while he continued to talk about me in videos, comments, etc.. I don't even do metal detecting videos.. I do FISH TANK videos... He used to do them as well and seen me as the #1 aquarium channel to target.. much like you are the #1 detecting channel. This is NOT a one time thing for him.. it is his M.O. I have dealt with it for 4 years now. He has cooled off about me a bit, and now i see why.. he has gone after you. In his apology to me though, he made up a story that never actually happened that way... appearing to be the good guy making "honest mistakes". His "sorry" video means nothing... he continued on for over a year with me and I see no end to it. I applaud you for doing this!

dear Dan. i dont know you as a person before. just from your vids . wich where always honest and full of enthousiasm . told you this on several videos if i recall it right. you are a very good , sensitive , honest and smart man. 4 things lors of people want in a friend . there always will be bullies and haters. but please remember that without them the good ones are difficult to recognize. at this moment of time there are no average people anymore. you are a very brave man and no matter what , keep on making vids because your enthousiasm is contagious and i always want to go out in the fields when watching. dont let anybody change that mentality of you. cheers man.

You're doing the correct thing Dan. Jealousy is an evil thing, and I'm sure that was the leading motivation for most of these people. Those that can't find success, unfortunately find comfort in trying to destroy someone who has. Hopefully they will all apologize and you can avoid a messy lawsuit. I have to say you have done a wonderful job of deleting their comments, because I have been watching your videos for about two years and I had no idea any of this was going on. Wish you the best.

Good for you!!!! I have never commented before, but I always click the "Like" button for all your videos. I really enjoy your videos. You have a lot of fun making them. I love your sense of humor more than anything, especially the names you come up with. I think "Shallow Shoveler Shane" is a classic! I also enjoy the metal detecting videos. (I even enjoy your cooking videos since you are a "professional" chef!) I think it's hard NOT to detect a battlefield. Who is to say that when you find some musket balls, that there wasn't a battle there in the 1700s? There's been battles all over the place! Please keep on doing what you are doing. You are not breaking any laws. If there was a "sacred" battlefield with lots of lives lost, it would seem to me that it would be barricaded to keep the public out. You do not detect any hallowed ground! You always get permission from a landowner before you detect his fields. You have no doubt saved lives by reporting unexploded ordinance to the authorities! Hey Digger...unfortunately, this world will always be filled with haters. I don't know you personally. What I do know is that you make me laugh...in a GOOD way. We all need to laugh more. I am an American living in China...have been for 10+ years...and I don't speak much Chinese, so I watch a lot of KZfaq. There's way to much gloom and doom and lying and useless/meaningless hating in life and on the tube. But you....YOU MAKE ME LAUGH while educating and entertaining me. Thank you for that!

I got into metal detecting because of you Dan. My Girlfriend is German and I hope to do some metal detecting when we go over to visit her family as her father owns a lot of land just outside of Munich. I'm from just down the road from you In Malton near Pickering. I was hoping to set up my own channel soon with videos about ww2 explorations, metal detecting and camping and bushcraft. I just wanted to say I enjoy your videos by far better than anyone else's on youtube. It's good to see a fellow yorkshire man on here making such entertaining videos and I have enjoyed watching them for over a year and a half. Keep going mate, concentrate on the positive and that's all that is needed to triumph over the haters. If they persist take the twats to court.

Hey Dan, I am so sorry you've been through this. My son and I were speaking a couple days ago about why people do what they do against successful KZfaqrs. He calls it being "butt hurt" which simply means they're jealous! They look at your success and they think they can do the same thing and are offended that you're successful and they're not! Keep doing what you do! I'm sorry you have to deal with haters. The anonymity of the internet, hiding behind a computer screen makes them feel very brave when they are in fact, small people. Every time I watch one of your videos, I SMILE! Your videos make me smile! I love your passion for what you do! Your excitement is infectious. When I seen this video about "Haters" I was lost for words, Myself and my young daughter watch your videos every day and we love them for the interesting content on your findings and the entertainment which make us laugh out loud.. The people who you are refering to are known as Trolls and it is illegal as it is Personal, Phyiscally and Emotionally damaging and it could put a end to everything you have worked so hard for and by doing this video and putting a message out there to say enough is enough, they hopefully should nip it in the bud stop.. Watched his apoligy and it was so noble of him to bury the hatchet and then disable comments on that video (Coward) I started following him when he was doing pond videos, before he started metal detecting. So thought "cool" he's doing metal detecting ones as well, but it didn't take long for me to disable notifications of new videos. Found him too much up his own arse. Been following you since you started posting vids and have always looked forward to the next installment in life according to"Deep Digger Dan" . Dan, I am sorry that you had to go through this! Its really sad when you consider these haters are small, miserable people who know it and have to live with themselves.
