When President Ram Nath Kovind was blessed by ‘Mother of Trees’
She is 107 year old from Karnataka.
Recalling the moment, the President on twitter said that he was 'deeply touched' when the oldest Padma awardee of the year thought it fit to bless him.
At the Padma awards ceremony, it is the President’s privilege to honour India’s best and most deserving. But today I was deeply touched when Saalumarada Thimmakka, an environmentalist from Karnataka, and at 107 the oldest Padma awardee this year, thought it fit to bless me

U aren't allowed to touch him I think coz they don't take his safety for granted even when u are giving an award and are not at risk. Of course she's harmless but u can't asume that and take his safety for granted. So I'm sure there are protocols that were read to the recipients like maintain distance or something like that. If there were no rules, his life could be at risk.
