People born in the 60s and 70s are the most luckiest to have grown up listening to the most amazing rock music ever.... Deep purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Lynyard Skynyrd, Kiss... just to name a few.... I'm truly blessed.. each time I listen I am taken back to my school days... best days ever...

Jon Lord's electric organ is so under rated in this song. Blackmore's guitar is great but the organ played through the Marshall stack gives this song it's true signature sound.

Oh god I love hearing Lord's infectious keyboard. You never realize how crucial keyboard is in metal or rock music until you listen to a song without it. Obviously a song that normally has keyboard. Deep Purple wouldn't sound the same without Lord's playing. We need more metal keyboard players.

02:00 - I see a young guy mouthing the riff, in 1972 5 days ago, in 2023, I saw a young girl and her group mouthing the riff in Bangalore, India, as Deep Purple rocked it out, 51 years since the day it came out. Just as the crowd was chanting last week, I'll say it as well - DEEP PURPLE! DEEP PURPLE!
@Grossman28682 жыл бұрын
I happened to score a ticket at the last moment in '73 to see Deep Purple in Vancouver B.C. This was about the same time as this video. I walked out a changed person, from then on it was every Deep Purple album. I can still play most of the Live In Japan album and still have my original copy, very well worn. I've had it in every form up to CD. Blackmore's guitar playing changed my life, I got to tour with my own band, we never made it anywhere, but we had a damned fine time trying.

I always thought that Jon Lord's organ playing gave Deep purple's music a class that it would have missed otherwise. RIP Mr. Lord.

Such a shame that Ian and Richie could not get along, such magic in the early days.

Agree, but to be fair, blackmore is abit of a dick. He had rocky relationships nearly all of the singers he worked with however all of them said despite that, their was a definite mutual respect for the mans creativity

Love Jon Lord's playing on the renowned Hammond (B3 and C3) The best organ keyboards for rock music, combined with fantastic Leslie's which Lord was also renowned for using. Legendary to say the least.

This song is very special to me. I was listening to this when I was 4 yrs old, it was my favorite song (My father's influence). So instead of singing and listening to nursery rhymes I played this over and over again. And maybe this is why I love rock music so much.

Watching Ritchie Blackmore play this iconic riff with his thumb is sublime. It's like he knew in the future 90% of young guitar players would play the riff wrong and he's just saying, "hey cats, check this out. I'm playing it with my THUMB...." Absolutely incredible.

The most Iconic, Iconic Heavy Metal Anthem Song Ever!! This whole band is so Hot!! on this song, that I'm surprised that the building they were talking about did not burn down because of them playing this song, They were Cooking!!! Especially the Lead Singer and Keyboardist!! One of the all time great riffs by Ritchie Blackmore!! A Beavus and Butthead favorite.
