ঢাকা শহরের অদূরেই একটি কৃষি সমৃদ্ধ উপজেলা সিঙ্গাইর, এই অঞ্চলকে ঢাকার কিচেন হাউসও বলা হয়। এর মুল কারণ হল রাজধানীতে যাওয়া বেশির ভাগ সবজি এই অঞ্চল থেকেই যায়। এই অঞ্চলের ১৬,২৪৫ হেক্টর জমিতে সবজি চাষ হয়ে আসছে। প্রতিদিন এই জায়গা থেকে প্রায় ২৫০ থেকে ৩০০ ট্রাক সবজি ঢাকায় পাঠানো হয়।
মিজান ভাই এই অঞ্চলের একজন সফল কৃষক। বর্তমানে তিনি এখানে জাপানি জাতের "অরেঞ্জ কিং" গাজর চাষ করে বেশ সাড়া ফেলছেন। গাজর অতি পুষ্টিমান সমৃদ্ধ একটি সবজি, এতে উচ্চমানের বিটা ক্যারোটিন, ভিটামিন এ, মিনারেলস ও অ্যান্টিঅক্সিডেন্ট আছে। পুষ্টিমান সমৃদ্ধ এই সবজিটির বাজার মূল্য বেশ ভালো হওয়ার মিজান ভাই অর্থনৈতিক ভাবেও বেশ লাভবান হচ্ছেন। গাজর চাষে পাশাপাশি পেঁপে ও বেগুন চাষ করছেন তিনি...
