ছাদ বাগান এখন দেশের জনপ্রিয় একটি কৃষি পদ্ধতি। শহরাঞ্চলে আবাদি জমি ও গাছপালা কমে যাওয়ায় বনায়ন ও বৃক্ষরোপণের সুযোগ নেই বললেই চলে। আমাদের নগরকে তাই পরিকল্পিতভাবে গড়ে তুলতে হবে। ছাদ ও বাড়ির আঙ্গিনা, খালি জায়গায় ব্যাপক ভিত্তিতে সবজি, ফল ও ফুল বাগান করা হলে বায়ু ও পরিবেশ দূষণ রোধ করা সম্ভব। গবেষণায় দেখা গেছে, একটি বাড়ির ২৫ শতাংশ জায়গা দখল করে থাকে ছাদ, যা মোটামুটিভাবে বলা চলে অব্যবহৃতই থেকে যায়। এক্ষেত্রে ছাদে বাগান করা হলে জায়গাটার যেমন যথোপযুক্ত ব্যবহার হয় তেমনি এর থেকে আর্থিকভাবেও যথেষ্ট লাভবান হওয়া যায়।
