The Duality of his story progressions: The link strider, a dedicated support oath in assisting your comrades in arms, ends in a tragic fate for all of his friends leaving him to wonder the world alone. The contractor, an oath tha progresses only with the sacrifice of many lives, ends in tragedy for the master as he does his best to keep all of those he held dear alive- even with the restraint to kill them. This has truly been a Deepwoken.

A story of friendship, heartbreak, and betrayal. I am not ashamed to admit that more than a fair share of tears were spilled throughout this film, and the end alone makes it worth an Academy award. I quote the acclaimed poet Dylan Thomas when I say to our friend, "Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

Been moving away from the story driven progression vids as of late. This video is kinda a return to that. I hope you all enjoy. Also watch out for spoilers in the comments.

This story had a humble beginning, a assassin, trying to make himself a image in this corrupted world, gathering friends to embark on a treacherous journey throughout the 3 regions. Friendship, Deceit, Corruption, and finally Repentance. Being disillusioned by the way of the contractor, he saw his own men as sacrifices all in the name of power, pulling the strings in the background, he knew exactly what he was preparing for and at the final moment, when he had all the power to do so, the voices were calling to him to finish the job already… The voices were strong, but the power of friendship was even stronger, the memories rushed in! The adventures of those courageous 4! The adversaries they had prevailed against! The newfound strength in these flashbacks overpowered the voices calling to him, and left all but one thought in his mind… That moment was quickly ended, when the voices fought back and came to punish him for his failure to obey their command! They had sent their mighty forces by the name of Lancelot and attempted to murder the 3 oaths in the name of bloodlust. In one last stitch effort, he used his Vow of Mastery, not to sacrifice them, but to sacrifice himself and let them run away whilst he distracted them. He fought his best, but the sheer numbers overwhelmed him, and he fell down. Exhausted, he let out one more message through the Vow of Mastery and he plummeted down to the void, never to be seen again. Courage need not to be remembered, for it is never forgotten. Rest in Peace, Luther Kavinel, your efforts were not in vain. - Sage Sahet.

Yet just as he was about to end the lives of his allies he held so dearly . . He bit his tongue. Luther had decided to spare his friends, yet the cruel world of Lumen had other plans. A group of hunters burst from the shadows, attempting to kill him and his brothers in blood! Luther realized what he had to do, and simply muttered the words "All . . Run!", despite knowing his brethren would die by his side. Their legs moved against whatever their mind shouted, and the sounds of war slowly faded into the bubbling of the deep air. They looked back, for but a moment . . No sign of their leader. As if the universe was telling them a message, their lips moved against their will. ". . KEEP GOING!" was shouted. And so, the end of Luther's life. An Etrean contractor tasked with ending journeys and lives . . Had only started a journey for his friends.

The storytelling is amazing, and you making sure your friends could escape was a tearjerker

It was heartwrenching when I say you were going to kill them all I screamed “No, NO WAY!” as you typed that command, but then you stopped. Soon after Lancelot arrived and tried to slaughter you all, in a last ditch effort you told them to run, as they were getting attacked while distracting the enemies. When you were near knocked out you’re final words “Keep going” just saddened me as they sent you to the void. Rest in peace this wonderful friend, I know they will carry on your legacy and fight until the very end. Thank you for this amazing episode.

when he about to said ''all sleep'', i almost cried... this is a truly history.

my story begins In the starstruck valley, I was searching for a powerful ally that could help me with the cruel angel iblis. a celtor named Luther came and I asked him for assistance, he accepted. Once on the top of the cliff, iblis awaited. Though I was flawlessly knocked by iblis, Luther came to help and we defeated him. Luther told me he was going on a journey to help me and two other friends. I accepted and a grand adventure awaited, while me and Luther was waiting for sage sahet he asked me if I can make a vow of mastery to him. I was skeptical from the way his tone was, like if he knew something terrible was going to happen in the end, but I choose to make the vow. with help of Luther he helped me obtain great power, after the three of us had acheived our goals of power, luther told us to wait outside of the kings garden and told us he was going to obtain power. When he came back something felt, off about him, the black puppet strings from his shoulders pierced the air. A dark aura surrounded him, and his eyes were pitch black, i thought about it a little bit, but shrugged it off when the other two were congratulating him. It seemed me and sage sahet knew something was off about Luther as if he was corrupted. After that our last mission was the depths. Once we dived down, me and sage traveled the celtor wastes, fighting off monsters while on our path. Once we made it, we were ready to kill the scion of ethiron in layer 2. We were listening to luthers orders when a sudden pause in his words shook his core, as if he was going to do something terribly evil. But then he said nevermind, but all of a sudden a group of people attacked, we tried to fight them off but luther told us to run and he will sacrifice himself to save us. As the three of us ran i looked behind and saw our leader thrown deeper down into the depths. After the tradgedy the three of us split our own paths after that, i was going insane from the supposed death of luther. I dont think he made it out alive. i shall face my last enemy of the depths, the enforcer. This may be my last fight, but atleast the grand adventure made my vesperian life a journey that can never that can never be forgotten. - grimhildr sekhigi

I have cried multiple times viewing this. It had a story and friendship I have never seen before. And lasted all the way to your death, preventing theirs. I don’t think I’ll look at my Vow Of Mastery’s the same again.

This is genuinely unique. I love the story-writing and the character that you create and then develop going off of pure improvisation on what happens to you in your gameplay. The fact that after a certain point you can actually psychoanalyze the protagonist made this feel so engaging to watch for me. Light roleplay is truly on top

Three other depth-striders had begun attacking the group. "RUN!" Luther shouted out to his teammates. "I'LL DISTRACT THEM" He assured them. "ALL, RUN" He commanded, as his teammates ran into the dark abyss A beautiful chorus filled the air as Luther was left behind in this dark, lonesome place. The three depths-striders quickly cut him down and hovered over the void, laughing away manically into the dark. With his last bout of strength, Luther told his teammates telepathically "KEEP RUNNING, FOR ME." As Luther plummeted into the void, the manic laughter of the Depths-striders ceased. The song had reached it's end; the final bell rung. May the drowned gods have mercy on his soul... I knew of his scheme the whole time but, I also knew he wouldn't carry it out. He was too selfless. I was almost crying with the "all sleep" but it was the punishment that Luther Kavinel deserved, he made all his friends, just to kill them on the end, but that was what the world think, he stopped all that psychopath thoughts of him and noticed that friendship is all in this cruel and no-mercy world.

Spoilers ahead: Never ever thought we would get a (technically) canon sequel to Linkstrider Prog, the line "I'm so proud, You've come so far" really broke my heart, but the twist where AFK decided to not kill his comrades for his own Prog really touched my heart, he sacrificed himself for the good of the people who trusted him. Top tier movie, made me cry.

I loved the duality of this progression and linkstrider, where the friendly linkstrider has to make the sacrifice of friends to keep others alive, whereas the decivious contracter fails to take the lives of the friends they made to obtain power.
