A lot of hunters give up if they didn't bag their buck in November. Rut hunting is always hyped up as the best, and sometimes only, chance to bag a big buck and it is just simply not true. While it is more likely that a random buck will show up during the rut, your chances don't go to zero the second that rut is over. In this video we go over three reasons why December deer hunting could be just as good as hunting during the rut.

I’ve missed my target 🎯 🦌 two years in a row and just missed another big buck yesterday and couldn’t have asked for better opportunities and I choked rushed and blew it and I can’t get right here in central North Carolina myself … hang tough and keep after them is all we can do and we will capitalize eventually !

Here in Arkansas I shot at one of the biggest bucks I’ve ever seen one year the day after Christmas! It was colder than a well-diggers ***, I was so excited I was shaking like a leaf.. after all the confusion I trailed him to a scrape line he had just made! Excellent video, good advice and good hunting to all you late season hunters!!!

I had a great early season. The rut was crazy. Deer were running all over the field behing the house. Still didnt get my target buck. But hes still around. Shot the 9 point that was fighting with the big 12 point point before he ran away. Still have one tag. Going to hunt till its filled or seasons over. Good video!

I've always had the best hunting in December especially for some reason on the 9th. I've had success later in December with some good size deer harvested.

For my area, December is THE time to hunt. There is almost no rutting activity that most people that most people think of during November, maybe a few rubs or scrapes. But it doesn't pick up until December. All bucks that I have shot except 1 were shot in December. The last 2 weeks of December have been on fire for the last few years. @@NickofSpades The western part of North Carolina. In the last week, I have seen more deer than I did during the whole month of November. I do not get to hunt as much as I would like, but just the other day was the first time this year that I saw bucks actually chasing does.

Deer need water also...streems and rivers are usualy bedding areas especialy in the winter where they get no moisture intake from greens...

Red acorns are all over my property this year, we had a bumper crop. I rake them up and take them to my pine deer 🦌 lease and they disappear, leaving a lot of deer sign behind.

I shot a 11 point Sunday morning, he was looking for does, he was wandering thru a known doe area. I shot him at 7:28 in the morning at 20 yards with crossbow sitting on the ground nestled in a couple of trees. By 9am all buck movement has been stopping. The week before in rifle season I shot a buck in the same spot at 7:22 am. It's easier to get your buck while bucks are looking either before or after the peak of the rut. It seems like during the peak does that are not in heat are hiding from the bucks and the does in heat are hidden away by a buck breeding her so deer movement seems slow.

It's been a bad yr in southern Ohio gun season I've never seen a season like this their wasn't Kno deer hunters out we depend on hunters hunting on joining farms to make the deer move I hunt 20 miles from where I hunt we seen 5 deer hunters hunting all wk I don't Kno wat happened maybe everyone is bow hunting idk gun season is usually a big deal here in Ohio it was terrible this yr anyhow jmo thought I would throw that out their.
