Deer shot with Lehigh Defense subsonic! Big game indicating dog.

Hi all, this is a mainly unedited video, first up is our first hunt for sika in the Kaimanawa's, and second hunt is in our honey hole for red deer, trying to get my first deer with my new rifle, and Lehigh subsonic combination. So if you are interested in seeing a bit more of how me and Meg hunt together, this one is for you!

Mint video bro. My pup whines just the same when a deer is close by. Its still early on in his deer hunting career but hes managed to get me two deer thus far. Im still keeping him on a long leed and staying on a track or open ridges. As he is still young he wants to rush around everywhere. Over time he will slow down and learn to be quiet... I hope.

Cheers bro, yea it’s definitely a bit annoying, but we still seem to shoot a deer nearly every hunt, yea you definitely want to put a bit of pressure on him if he’s doing it though👍

Well done Lawrence and Meg! That sika was a bit sneaky…. Almost! Awesome day on the reds…. I should have a go at reds. Man you came across 7-8 deer! Amazing! Cool footage of the hunts. I really enjoyed the video. Unfortunately due to ship operation and Covid I haven’t been out for ages so I’m surviving on your videos! The last sika I shot over my border collie Bella I used “half” power loads in my 260 and it seemed to work really well. I’m currently reloading some reduced power loads for my 243 when I next get a chance to go hunting. Keep up the great vids! 👍👍👍

Thanks Darrell, yes so close but so far away on the Sika, yup we usually see multiple deer on a hunt👍 the advantage of having a dogs nose🤙 glad you enjoyed, will get out again soon, yea covid is a real bummer, you’ll get out soon enough, in the mean time I’ll try keep the content coming!

Nar duno about those bullets,I've got a 300 blackout and using those leehigh bullets,just not good enough,will stick to my bow ,or my 2506.but thanks for vid

Might just be your shot placement, every animal I’ve hit in the shoulder has died faster than most high velocity kill shots🤷‍♂️ yea I’ve lost some that I didn’t hit right, but I’ve lost deer hit with hi velocity as well. And I know people that hunt with bows and they wound heaps😂 I use the subs to protect Megs hearing and mine. Each to their own, it all comes down to shot placement at the end of the day no matter what you use. Happy hunting👌

Good vid I’m in the BGID group on fb, on part 4 with my GSP. How far do you think Meg could wind a deer from and give you notice of it? where I’ve been hunting it’s pretty open, some spots 100-200m. Just wondering if the dog will help me a lot or I’ll be better off hunting thicker stuff

Cheers bro, yup I’ve had a Meg wind a deer 200m, definitely 100m is easy, when she gets like she was in this vid I know it’s under 50m, I’ve had her take me to a few that she has winded and then we hit them about 300m away, you never know if it’s what she initially winded or just luck that we hit another deer maybe? But if you have a consistent wind, 300m is nothing to a dog, I’ve seen deer wind me at over 300m in the open👍

We were Walking a ridge with my dog and It was winding into some scrub 150 metres below us. My mate walked down and shot a deer in that scrub. We wouldn't have bothered checking or known one was in there if it wasn't for the dog.

Hey Great Stuff. I run a viszla/gsp cross similar age and dynamite. Really love the bush hunting. Can I ask what calibre, twist rate and load info for the Lehigh rounds?

Hey bro, it’s good fun aye, .308, 1:7 twist, I use 9.3 grains of trail boss, but that won’t suit every rifle and barrel length👍
