I Had never heard Deerhunter before I saw them at Bonnaroo 2011. I can honestly say, they were THE best performance of that entire festival (I'm including Arcade Fire on this list). They we're unbelievably good, and fell in love with their material after listening to their records at home.

I had no clue what this band was about before picking up this album. The first track caught my attention so fast through its channeling of Slowdive...or any old group from the 4AD label (where this album comes from!). From then on, there is a lot of similarities to Grizzly Bear, in my opinion, yet not as dreary. It's catchy and even a little Prog in the process. The song, "Helicopter," is severely touching when listening while reading the liner notes story accompanying it. Love it, 9/10.

This latest Deerhunter album is actually the first mateiral I have ever heard by Deerhunter. I must live under a rock or something. I really dug this album. It was different than I thought it would sound. I guess for some odd reason I thought Deerhunter would sound like Interpol. Don't get me wrong, I do like Interpol a lot but Deerhunter doesn't sound anything like Interpol. They're much more chill than Interpol. Every song on the album is like a new adventure; a bit experimental. I dig it.

If I hadn't heard Microcastle or RCE I'd probably be way more into this album. I was really hoping for some change of direction, especially when I watched an interview where Bradford said that they'd 'Spunk's the pop cock dry' but it's just more of the same. Bradford's 'dreamy' voice is really wearing on me now, which is why I easily like Desire Lines the most. Lockett's vocals are brilliant.

ha I actually watched the whole review and waited for the score rather than jumping down into the dbox...I was listening to this thing on npr pretty much the whole day...loving it and thinking el Pitchfork are gonna BNM it for sure...definitely agree that the experimentation is much more an organic part of the songs...you can buzz out and singalong at the same time...fav Deerhunter track may still be Spring Hall Convert though I really really liked Revival when I first heard it :)
