I give Vivian all the respect in the world but when Steve died the magic of the band went with him. All he wanted was his dad's approval, which i can relate with Steve 110% on. Doing the things that make you happiest and not even so much as a good job or I'm proud of you can be said by his father is no wonder why he drank himself to death. I'm recovering myself due to family neglect and mental abuse. RIP Steve. You're the legend in the flesh.

I don’t think there’s anything I can say that would suffice but having a similar background as the one you describe, and being a fan of leppard and steve, I can say that you’re as loved as he was, thank you for holding on, nothing you’ve gone through or done will be in vain

The end of this man was the end of the band. Whoever fucked with him needs a talking to. People don't drink themselves to death because their happy. They do it because their childhood was atrocious.

I believe his father's indifference to him played a big part. He was loved by his band and fans but not his father who was bitter and jealous or so I've read. Who knows? A huge loss of one the greatest guitarists.

While I think Viv has been the perfect fit - I think Def Leppard’s vibe has been different since Steve’s death. Those subtle little bits and licks that were a Def Leppard signature were classic Clark licks

Steve is an amazing person who I miss everyday and moment. The band did lose their magic when they lost Steve. No disrespect to Vivian. Steve was so talented and sweet. Wish his dad could have been there for him and caring instead of tearing him down. I don't want to see the band without Steve,it would hurt too much.

Interviews with this shy gentle man are extremely rare. He obviously here is in a pub and he also is already well on his way however given his tolerance - he was found in a dumpster in the US with a blood alcohol level higher than John Bonham, Steve drank VERY young thanks to his hard, brutal taxi driving Sheffield Father. This interview was during the hiatus the band gave Steve, he's in a pub somewhere in London.. "The Riffmaster" was seriously a LYRICAL AND MUSICAL GENIUS - on Stage he oozed cool, a genuine [not like the fake smoke Saul Hudson clown] rock star who blew away the stadiums. I have posted under a different name all In know about this man - on other web sites - I miss him. Vivian is a beast but Leppard have, never will be the same, and that is NOT slagging off Viv. Viv imo plays Phil off a short break. But personally I 'do' think Steve would have approved of Viv - Steve hated the. LA slingers, Viv being from the UK would have meant a lot to Steve. If you want to try and quantify 'how' valuable Steve was, is to Leppard - just look at their real lack of commercial success after he passed - as Viv said verbatim [Savage and Elliot would NEVER admit this] "90% of what we play Steve left us - I still can't play Gods Of War and some of his other songs". Now these words are from Vivian, a brilliant guitarist. There's context. And 'that smile' that hid SO much pain. Kills me every time. But look at what he left us - incalculable as it is. The great rock photographer Ross Halfin who picked Steve extremely early and has taken the most number of live and set pictures of Steve blames his Father for Steve's pain, ALL Steve ever wanted was his Dad's approval. Watch the BBC telemovie on the early days of Leppard as it is near perfect.

It's hard to believe a man who seemed so coherent and happy let alcohol destroy him. I guess some people just cannot exorcize their demons. All the help his band offered him and he still dug his own grave. So sad. So very very sad. RIP.
