The only redeeming feature of BO2 was the hilarious character animations. Uma walked like she was constantly trying to keep balance.

Dead sun was crap and its good it never saw the light of day. The dialogues were predictable and trite. I agree that Square Enix is sitting on a treasure chest of a good game but they keep churning final fantasy sequels which resemble each other

@Chriseldur yeah I know right bro. I just replayed the game in the past 1-2 months recently. It's so epic when the Elders Voice comes down and Says Raziel you are worthy. Your good. It's just it's just getting to me cause everybody is like dude put every thing on the 5. First I'm not worried about the 5 because there's no Internet browser for me to watch free anime. Plus you can't watch any kind of movies from what I read. So yeah there's really no point in me every getting the 5. Unless there is time where there's like 10 games that I want to spend money on.. also the 5 costs so much. It's like buying a not so expensive Iphone when they 1st launch. And I'm sorry I'm not paying more than my rent for a game system. Unless that game system is like unbreakable, and is indestructible 😂. But yeah I can't even play the FF7 remake Intergrade/Yuffie dlc just because they added that to the 5

Doesn't matter, it got cancelled - this is just leaked footage of a game in progress from 2012. What was left of it was repurposed into mp game 'Nosgoth', which in turn got shut down before it even left beta. There hasn't been a real LOK game since 2003, and the franchise is on ice.

I just played SR1, SR2 and Defiance back to back, and I gotta tell you that SR2 has got to be my least favorite. SR2 is a very bare bones linear experience with seemingly half the planned features cut (according to early previews and interviews), which is somewhat of a tradition in this series, but it's this game that feels the most lacking. It's not a metroidvania like SR1, there are no secrets to look for, and it doesn't have competent combat or the story of Defiance to fall on - the game is just long frequent cut-scenes combined with simplistic combat and a few puzzles in badly designed levels - the game feels like a rushed filler chapter, and the story itself could be summed up in a sentence or two (the important stuff that is). In terms of graphics and character design Defiance is better than SR2 in every way - character models and animations, environments, shader special effects, postprocessing, etc. Raziel's Soul Reaver itself looked the worst in SR2, too - there was no spiral around Raziel's arm (just a few simple partciles flying around), and it was shorter than in SR1 and Defiance both - it looked kinda dinky and lame. It's shorter range was even an issue in combat, since you could rarely hit anyone with heavy spin attack. Defiance has the best looking wraith Soul Reaver, for sure - huge, bulky, with a skull hilt, and nice looking effects.

@@piobu5357 as far as cut content goes, I couldn't agree more, it's a real shame - and the game is linear, too, in the sense that you can do one thing only and either you do that or you don't progress - however, such "objectives" are quite hard to accomplish, especially if you don't follow both the story and the map design thoroughly. At least it doesn't have Defiance's poor and obvious puzzles which, as far as each forge is concerned, are just a copy and paste, literally. Plus, in SR2 you had to play with the handicap of having only one elemental power at time, and you could also use the perks of each elemental force to solve puzzles, whilst on Defiance only the latter is true (and is done even badly). While it's true that post processing is much better in Defiance, I really don't understand how can you find the models and particles better in there. Maybe it's just a matter of tastes, but each character looks so bad and deformed to me, with Kain being the only exception who really got some improvements. Also look at the darkness reaver in SR2: it's foggy and surrounded by weird particles that make it look more "obscure" and dark indeed, while in Defiance its merely a change of any generic soul reaver. Not to mention the fire one... I agree that the combat is tons better in Defiance (but also different)

@@Speed4Runs Defiance models and aesthetics overall are a bit more stylized, but that's what makes them timeless - going for photo-realism in 2001 is just not going to cut it later on, and I think that was a good choice. Look how Raziel's eyes look in SR2 - they're supposed to be white, but there are still shadows cast on them, and it looks weird, like they're just painted on - they simply glow in Defiance, and it looks just how it should. Or look at Mobius's hands in SR2 - they're disproportionately huge and very potato-ey. Then there's the polygon count and textures, it's just better in Defiance. I played both of those with a texture pack and reshade, and Defiance still looked miles better - just compare Ariel's model in both games. And puzzles in Defiance were definitely easier, but at least they didn't span 4 huge locations like in SR2's forges - you had to run for like 10 minutes to get the full scope of them there, and ultimately they weren't exactly mind-taxing, either - they just took longer to complete. The level design in SR2 was overall very annoying - it was full of corridors that looked the same way in both directions, and I often got lost if there was a combat encounter and the camera spinned around. The swamp that severely hampers your movement as sort of a HUB for the whole game is just not a good idea, either.

@@piobu5357 Well, I think the goal of SR2 is closer to an exploration of the various eras to show how everything changed due to the corruption of pilars, and that's why you had to walk a lot (anyways most of the swamp could be bypassed by rocks and, anyways, its effect could be erased once you had the Air reaver). Maybe it's just tastes, but I completely disagree on the look of Raziel's eyes, which had such a weird shape and made him look like a super saiyan 3 tbh. I don't mind the lesser polygon count when the final result just looks worse - even on Mobius, except his hands which still looked bad anyways (but that's obvious, technology changes over the years). What really struck me was the attention to detail in Raziel's model which, despite being mostly textureish, it still looked so great and made a great impression of the wraith he should be. The lighting and the reaver effects look just so good and I can't understand why they got rid of them in Defiance. Perhaps it's due to console limitations due to the added postfx (for example in the spectral realm), but the various reavers and raziel really look like shit to me in Defiance, especially the former, which had basically no visual effects except from being translucent. I mean, technically speaking, yes, Defiance clearly came after, but such tech wasn't used properly as the art style looked like shit, or at least that's for me, and I'm not even getting started with the poor location design which kinda reflected a slow decadence of LoK...

​@@Speed4Runs well I prefer the look and aesthetic of Defiance, especially when it comes to the wraith reaver - like I said before, it's pretty short in SR2, which makes hitting anything with heavy attack a miracle, and the few simplistic particles on Raziel's hand instead of a pronounced spiral make it look like a step down even from SR1 to me. The 'blade' itself was made out of flying particles in SR2, as well, and it just looks cheap. The reaver in Defiance has a lot of work put into it - it's not a bunch of 2d sprites flying around, there's a spiral, there's an animated flow of energy, a hilt, an afterimage of the blade during an attack, and everything gets amped once it charges fully, and each Reaver has an additional passive effect, and an active one, then. It's no longer a light-source, but considering both SR2 and Defiance launched on PS2, I guess they had to optimize the game somehow to accommodate higher poly count of models and environments. Fixed camera angles like in God of War games are another technique to limit, and control, the amount of polygons on the screen and squeeze more out of a system. In the end I didn't mind the lack of light emitting from the reaver, since the lightmaps looked rather blocky and low-res in SR2, and the wraith blade itself looks just so much better in Defiance. The characters may look a bit more fairy-taily, or cartoony if you like, but the stylized aesthetic works well, and it's not going to age as much. The design preference is one thing, but the fact that Raziel's eyes in SR2 are a low-res texture, and low-res shadows are constantly cast on them, makes them look like they're just painted on (which they are), while in Defiance the eyes are always glowing, and his 'face' is more expressive overall. Defiance is better than SR2 from a technical stand-point, and the aesthetic is just a matter of preference, I guess. I prefer Defiance since the story is finally in high-gear, instead of elaborate set-ups and exposition dumps of SR2, the game looks better (thx to higher poly count, better animations, and post-processing), and there are numerous other improvements : better combat, ability to devour souls in motion and air, secrets and upgrades are back, you can climb 'ladders' in spectral realm, reaver no longer sucks your life away when it's in use, etc. Of course it's not a 10/10 game by no means (which SR1 was for its time), but it's better than SR2 in my book.

It was some kind of a body/soul swap that happened so the vampire is in the humans body and the human is in the vampires body

BO2 Kain is the chronological continuation of Defiance Kain but in an altered timeline where its left ambiguous if Kain will be the hope of Nosgoth or not. Which is a fitting ending to his character and the story.

@@virgogaming6488 No he's not. Blood Omen 2 is a direct consequence of Soul Reaver 2. Defiance is after all that.

@@varanidguy Janos is possessed by the Hylden Lord at the end of Defiance and that storyline continues in Blood Omen 2. So Blood Omen 2 is the chronological conclusion of the series but with a different Kain whose future isn't set in stone yet.
