You know, I always love how Tobey's suit always gets shredded and nearly destroyed. It's such an underrated effect, it shows that he's fighting with only himself, his powers and nothing else. No high tech gadgets, no super suit- just a kid who's fighting, getting hurt, getting injured, wounded and bruised- yet still so committed and determined to do anything to save everyone. I don't know how to explain it, it's like you see that he doesn't always have the upper hand. He struggles, he get thrown about, he gets nearly killed, and in all those situations his suit slowly gets torn and torn until it's his skin taking damage.

@@1codeking hm, I think there's a part of the Doctor kind of regretting that he has to destroy his work eventually in the end. He was close to harnessing the 'power of the sun', but he had to take it down in the end. Either there's a part of him regretting he had to destroy it, and maybe there's also that "NO!" as in the chaos the artificial sun was bringing should stop and that its creator itself is the one to to stop it.

Otto always liked Peter; but once he got an understanding of why he was “lazy” being Spider man he admired Peter. 4:56 Really like this part of the scene, it really quickly and effectively demonstrates just how insidious his robotic limbs are. Even as they have completely lost their grip on Octavius' mind, they're still so reluctant to comply with him and shocked by his demands to them until it becomes completely clear that they can't regain their control over him. And then a few moments later, Octavius finally exerts his own control over his own arms, gripping Peter again, but no longer with the malicious manifest of old, instead as an extension of Octavius himself this time.

Although, I wouldn’t consider it as just reluctance, but confusion and were debating to listen to him for Peter. I noticed one of the arms listening to Peter’s speech on giving up the thing you want the most to do what’s right. It’s as if they were also affected by these words and it led to the four debating with Otto before agreeing to listen to him again, because the fusion reactor was their directive, just like it was Otto’s dream, but it’s as if they gave up on it too, because their true directive was to serve Otto.

@@mikephelps9238 You can make the argument that the arms were in a way, trying to help Otto do what they thought he truly wanted to do, which was to accomplish his dream of creating the fusion reactor and finish his life's work. That's what Otto wanted all his life and the arms basically twisted it in a way where their constant persistance made him forget WHY he wanted to create the fusion reactor in the first place, which was to help people. Just because you want something doesn't neccesarily mean it's something you need.

One difference I loved between this scene and No Way Home is the way the two Peters approach Ock. Tom's Peter repairs the inhibitor chip with his knowledge of advanced machinery and access to high tech Stark equipment. Tobey's Peter can't do that, at least not in the moment -but, unlike Tom, he's able to appeal to Ock and get him to see reason. He reminds Ock of what's most important to him. Not his work, or his ego. His principles and his wife. Tom had the smarts, but Tobey had the heart.

The problem isn't how they are bringing this Otto to MCU, but why. He died, sacrificed himself. Just let him have his fate. If you guys want so bad to see Molina again (and I kinda want that too), just make a different Otto. MCU already did that with JK Simmons. Earth-1999999 Otto Octavius wasn't even mentioned before. I liked how Peter went from being Doc Ock's learner to becoming his teacher by the end of the movie. Peter teaches Doc Ock about sacrificing your own dreams for the greater good and that he was using his intelligence for the wrong reasons and seeing Doc Ock deciding to listen his learner was powerful and seeing him use his intelligence to save people and sacrifice the very thing he was passionate about was a great character arc for him.

Just before 4:04 is the last thing Doc Ock remembers before being sent into the events of No Way Home. When Tom's Peter helped fix his chip to regain control of the tentacles, I think it would've been nice if Ock said he remembered everything else. Not just that he sacrificed himself to save the city, but of how Tobey's Peter reminded him how intelligence is a gift to be used for the good of mankind. A privilege. And that Otto remembered his last words before dying "I will not die a monster".

@@marselo1316 I don't think he meant weak as in physically or even mentally weak, because as you say, overcoming these problems is what makes for a good arc. I think, what he was referring to, was that the narrative dependence on Ironman is making the MCU Spiderman weaker as a whole. And I agree. It's so over hammered too, especially in Far From Home; despite the fact that Spiderman has interacted with Tony for all of two movies and a half, we're supposed to believe that he carries a tremendous guilt over his death, that, frankly, no other hero who has known Tony longer seems to share. As the memes say, MCU Spiderman is more of an Ironman Jr. Meanwhile, War Machine, who was supposed to be his replacement in Ironman 2, gets a cameo in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Spider-Man and Iron man are Worlds apart from each other in Demeanor and lifestyle. Robert Downey Jr. makes Iron-Man very likable. But in the Regular Marvel universe. Otto and Peter would probably share a talk similar to the one featured above, and the parallels would be amazing, maybe leading to a distraught Peter swinging away to the belltower to get rid of the suit. As for Norman, he'd use Oscorp's resources (or he'd ask Harry to use Oscorp's resources) to trap Venom and separate it from Peter, because Norman remembers how helpless he was against the Goblin. But these are just opinions

3:33 I love this moment. Because Otto was tired of a world where men like Norman were on top. And he was sure that spiderman would be some arrogant narcissist in the same way. But then it turned out to be someone he knew, not only that but one of the few people he respected as similar to himself. He can’t believe it. “Peter Parker, brilliant, but lazy” Peter was the ray of hope for otto, that the world wasn’t damned and controlled by evil men.
