Yeah, but Ant's Pokemon had EVs, and in Gens 1 & 2, all your stats could be maxed out with max EVs.

That sounds cool and all, but no, thats not at all the odds. What you did is take 251 with an exponent on 5 to get 996,250,626,251. What you are not factoring in however is that getting 5 of the same pokemon in a team of 6 is far more likely than getting 5 of the same pokemon in a team of 5. The number you gave is assuming that the team only had 5 pokemon. You are also assuming that all 5 pokemon has to be the specific pokemon you are looking for, however if all you want is 5 of the same pokemon, it doesnt matter what that pokemon is. That essentially means that you can multiply your probability by 251. Getting 5 of the same pokemon is really unlikely, but the numbers you gave really has nothing to do with the actual probability

@@lghal1 Remember - Could also be him calculating 5 metapod in a row. We know that the way the pokemon are randomised are ordered top to bottom *because* of the way the Easter egg works. So we aren't calculating 5 metapod in a party If it was Metapod XXX Metapod Metapod etc... then your reasoning in fair, but they are sequential, so they can be modeled to be 5 in a row, or in this case 11 in a row. Now, if we were taking it to be specifically metapod then the numbers are correct. but like you said, if we want 5 of any party member in a row it would be 1 in 39850020505 and for 11 of any party member it is 1 in 9.88561066x10^23 Which is still phenomenally big. For reference the actual chance of this happening with the Easter egg is 1 in 63253 apparently. So Ant was still very unlucky :)

In which case, your math seems just a little off, unless the Easter Egg also manipulated its odds to decrease them a bit. Math Since there are *251 total Pokemon,* the chances for *any of his party members being randomized to Metapod is 6/251.* And the chance for *each individual party member is 1/6 of that,* so the probability of him having *a Metapod-only party would be 1/251,* since only if the first Pokemon randomized to Metapod would the rest follow. The same would go for having a party of 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 Metapod. So, what we really need to calculate then, is *the chances of it happening twice in a row,* since they all have the same probability, which is *(1/251)X(1/251), which is 1/63001.* What this all means is that *a Metapod team of any number has a 1/63001 chance* of being followed by any other Metapod team of any number. A 2 Metapod team followed by a 5 Metapod team is just as likely as a 2 Metapod team followed by a 2 Metapod team. For the record, 63001/8192 is 7.6905517578125, meaning ant was nearly 8 times as likely to find a shiny as to having the Metapod thing happen twice in a row.

@@SuperAmazingPower when you talk to him, and from what I found since it's been a while since I played it, he talks about setting up Team Rocket in Unova but gave up his dream when he got married. Hes in Icirrus City with his wife and son. I also think he mentions Cerulean City as well but again, it's been a while. But I do remember him being there. Always found it neat.

It's probably a bug in the code somewhere. I don't know how it's randomized, but it has to be a bug in the code. I don't have the source code though, so I don't know how it works.

In chat when that happened, someone was saying that it is a bug. Whenever one of the pokemon in the party becomes a metapod, every one below it in the party also is a metapod. Not sure why.

@@Rachano I'd be able to investigate it if I had the source code, but chances are that it's just some interaction between the mod and the game and not the code itself.

​@@kevinpenn3424 Flamethrower definitely hadn't run out though, and Flamethrower was a better move than even wing attack once Slowpoke lost its Special Defense boosts. I'm not sure that Wing Attack actually ran out of PP or the AI realised that it would just do more damage with resisted flamethrower given Slowpoke's higher physical than special bulk and Charizard's higher special than physical attack..
