“The strong are not those who defeat people. Rather, the strong are those who defeat their nafs (ego)."-Prophet Muhammad
The Ego is the number one enemy we must defeat in our life. It is responsible for our pride, arrogance, envy, and corrupting our intention. If left unchecked, it can wreak havoc on our lives and destroy our relationships.
In this podcast, we are joined by Aanghel to discuss how to defeat the ego, understanding Sufism, and acquiring the Alchemy of Happiness.

Mashallah, another amazing podcast. I was really fascinated by Imam Al Ghazali's life story. What a journey and the analogy he gives is perfect. Inshallah I'll have to finish reading the Alchemy of Happiness. I love you guys both for the sake of Allah! ❤

Sufi Mysticism comes from Kabalah. Sufis also supported Sabbatai Zevi, and he ultimately is the cause of non muslim Turkey today.

Call it Sufism, tasawwuf or tazkiyah Ul-nafs but let’s focus on the inward dimension of islam. I think that’s what brother Ahmed and Aanghel were getting at.

Qadr of Allah is translated as free will? Also I’m not a scholar in Islam nor have I studied in depth but for sure I know Sufism is wrong and can lead to Kufr in some cases. Follow the path of the prophet upon the understanding of the salaf, that’s enough.

Your conception of Sufism is wrong. Sufism isn't about seeking help from the dead or dancing around in a mosque. Its rather about the purification of the soul. Evaluating your deeds on day to day basis, perfecting your character, increasing in worship, etc.

@@taherramzan4978 why does that have to be called Sufism?

Sufism today has been hijacked by people who dance and don’t study sacred knowledge. As one scholar said, “Back in the day, Sufism was a way of living and studying sacred knowledge; today it’s dancing with dervishes and neglecting sacred knowledge.” People like Salahuddin, al-Ghazali, Memed the Conqueror, Imam Shamil, Ar-Razi were all Sufis. Meaning they focused on the inward and outward of Islam. We don’t have to use the term but let’s focus on the inward component and strengthen it. Call it whatever you want.

@@nbafanboy13 but most sect claim to focus inward and outwardly. So then the term Sufism shouldn’t even been mentioned should just remain Islam because calling Sufism makes it another division.

@@hakantekin7018 why are the other sciences of Islam called fiqh, aqidah, etc? Sufism is just another science of Islam that talks about the inward practices/spirituality. It’s a part of Sunni Islam

I think that different things work for different people with different personality types. Not everyone likes to do vlogs and that's fine, and not everyone likes to do livestreams, and that's fine. Different approaches can still be very effective for different people and different audiences, ideally everyone is there because they want to be. I definitely do think that an important part of developing any sort of community online is to make sure that, should one decide to engage, they engage with people acting in good faith. I used to be under the impression that who people are online isn't the same as who they are or how they behave in real life, but now I'm at the point where the distinction seems almost if not completely meaningless, because people are spending more and more of their lives online. It seems to me humanity is simply going to have to evolve and adapt to the increasing influence of social media on our daily lives, or opt to tune out, and either path comes with considerable trade-offs. It's sort of like how the radio was once the big thing that everyone gathered around, then the TV, but now we've got smartphones with us 24/7, making it easier than ever to "tune in." Things might seem grim, but it's not all black and white. For every popular tragedy we see online, there are many good stories that don't get the same amount of clicks, advertisers know that we tend to look at disasters and stories with negative headlines more than we look for positive ones, so we can learn to adapt our social media usage and change the way we engage with it accordingly, but it's certainly not always going to be an easy process.
