To answer your question on the tanks : Nothing. The beach was fortified. It isn't shown here, but the beaches had a lot of czech hedgehogs (the big caltrops). Those, alongside the others, would prevent a counterattack on the beaches themselves. As for after the Allies took the beaches and established a somewhat stable bridgehead, a counterattack would be even harder to put in action. Not only would the Allies have deployed their own tanks, but the Luftwaffe (german air force) was extremely disorganized, so it would lead to german tanks being incredibly vulnerable to tactical bombings. Especially when the fortified area (AKA the part that held the best AA capabilities) had fallen into Allies' hands.

If the Germans didn't fall for the cleverly made misdirection of the allies, we would have been in so much trouble, possibly even caused the war to end right then for the US. Even though D-day was really bad, most of the forces designed to stop an invasion got tricked into a landing closer to Britain, so in reality the US really just fought a shell defense of the area. They used a cadaver recently killed and put an officers uniform on him and then let the body go in the ocean close to where some fighting was happening. Inside along with the guy was a briefcase (I think handcuffed to him) that had "Invasion plans". The fact this worked... let alone the fact the body was picked up, is incredible.

Creeper world 4 (and creeper world in general) is incredible for the sheer scale of the coding and scripting done for making maps. Between autobiuld FPS and sleeper, and also the MVerse multiplayer maps (believe thats in Beta) its insane, and you also have things like this, which are incredible, if a bit gimmicky, in that nothing really works (or is balanced) outside of this map..
