Rookie move picking knights on the first night Matt. As someone who got this game, because of your videos, on Wednesday and already has 20+ hours I can confirm… that was an architect move. Love this game. Cant wait to see it develop even further. Ps, always use spearmen against horsey people as they stop them running about.

To be honest Matt played perfectly for most of the game this time, in my eyes mostly in the beginning. In fact I mostly disagree with the editors here. Great series, keep going please.

Unsure if it is the editing or that you missed it, but in case of the latter, you are aware that spear guy's special attack doesn't only heal but also launches a flurry of blows for insane dps (unless they nerfed him from the free beta)? Also, while your strat for going to kill the weaker ones to lower their dps is solid, I found that the spearman serves better as a distraction-type unit. You try to hit everything once (maybe a few trickle through) while running circles around them, stalling the entire advance on the arm you stationed yourself as they try to chase you instead (you sorta did it for the tiny snakes always targeting the hero and dealing huge damage if they touch you). This allows your troops (and money) to focus on defending the other avenues (if you got enough of a backline on your own lane to leave them unattended for 10 seconds, you can even retreat and collect the entire army once they killed everything else - if needed). Spearman also has a slow-effect on fast enemies, making it even more important he hits most of them every now and then (even if some fast units only ever target the structures or townhall). But I found that the biggest focus for spearman needs to be the bludgeoning golems, as they are slow & large and easily kited, while if you allow them to amass they easily _tear_ through your entire defences (thanks to having huge health pools and DPS, making numbers the only thing necessary to let them get though by diluting your defences dps)

Sometimes I wonder if Matt is bad on purpose, as a sort of aesthetic thing to increase watch time like an architect.

You can use mines to move from mine to mine. And use the edge near the bottom mine to drop down to defend faster.

Btw you healing ability also gives you rapid attacks making you very strong for a short amount of time

2x HP units, Stronger barracks, Buildings/units better but your dmg is paltry. Even with the no respawn challenge my units just didn't have a problem to begin with!

Build a strong economy in the early rounds and barely scrape by and by the end you'll have more money than you know what to do with.

I can’t wait untill he gets flame bow archers and realizes how op a flame archer only build is. No infantry. Just walls, towers, and flame bows. Almost unstoppable combo. Especially if you have the +100% health on walls and towers perk.

I really think you need to invest into a lot more economy early on to ensure you have enough money to survive the later stages. 1-2 troops should be enough for a lot of the early waves

You can upgrade your walls

Play to your bonuses: if you take turret bonuses, focus there; make as many turrets you can, as high a level as possible. Today's strategy would've been best supported by other bonuses. I'm glad you failed, I didn't expect it, and it got my brain-juices going for the revenge episode.

Am I the only one who always has to smash his head onto the table when Matt places archers not on the high ground from where they can shoot safely, but directly in the frontline? Or behind walls, from where they cannot shoot, so they run out into the enemy?
