So, Mr. Karate is an alter-ego of Takuma (and later, of Ryo, as Mr. Karate II). He first appears as the final boss of Art of Fighting (the series where Ryo, Robert, Yuri, Takuma and King came from), just being a masked pallette swap of Ryo, but with buffed up moves (and there's a whole reason for that). In Art of Fighting 2, he becomes a playable character (as Takuma himself). Since then, Takuma has been playable in many KOF games, but his Mr. Karate self only appeared in very few other fighting games, being only playable in SvC Chaos: SNK vs Capcom, and having a boss version of himself in that same game, named "Serious Mr. Karate", and in KOF 13, as a DLC character

Fun fact... when the director of super smash brothers added Terry Bogard, he also made a large amount of the kind of fighters cast cameo in the background of Terry's stage. despite being a mainstay, he decided not include the large boobed ninja Mai, because "smash is a game for good boys and girls of all ages" This is quote became quite the meme.

Fan fact, Dan Hibiki from the streetfighter series is a parity of Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia. Ryo has a orange gi while they made Dan's a pink gi and Dan mimics Ryos fighting stance. They took Robert's head idea to make Dan's face and making Dan in streetfighter weaker and a "joke character".

King of Fighters 13, what can I say that people don't say about the game. This was SNK's last 2D sprites KOF game, and man did they go our with a blast. Beautifully made, and possibly they best KOF, if you don't count KOF 98' Ultimate Match, or KOF 2002 Unlimited Match. Hopefully you can continue with the SNK games as some of them are underrated gems.

KOF98 was my childhood and the same game that introduced me to my all-time favorite fighting game character Leona Heidern. Awesome design, super fun gameplay, fantastic VO (Masae Yumi) and an amazing storyline. A little detail I’m not sure if you both realized, but her hair turns blood red when she does Enhanced Deadly Moves.

Little fun fact about KOF 13, it's considered one of the best looking games in the series when it comes to it's character animations. But it also almost made the company bankrupt due to how expensive it was to animate.

K' (K-Dash) does not feel guilty at all, but Athena is a constantly resurrecting god so it's all gravy. There's a very good chance you're gonna see a couple of these fine folk around the time Tekken 8 launches.

Fun fact: one of the reason their are 2 versions of Iori (one with flames and one without) is because Ash (Guy with green flames) stole his power in the previous game. Also why one of his super has him using Iori’s iconic purple flames in one of his supers

The sprites are amazingly detailed, but they never did this again because it was far too expensive and the game didn't do well in return. Many of their movesets were reduced due to how intensive the spritework was. It went so bad for SNK in fact that there were no non-pachinko/mobile/Chinese-exclusive games between 2011-2015. Every new game they made since, you've already reacted to at least once. (KOF14/15, Samurai Shodown 2019)

Funny thing about King of Fighters, more than 60% of cast across the entire series are characters who possess supernatural abilities ranging from creating and manipulating matter and energy to even bending the laws of time. As the game is 3 on 3 team based battle system, each character picked is a 1v1 where the character that survives faces the next teammate of the opposing team. The game you posted deals with time manipulation and the legend of the 8 headed dragon Orochi, a consistent villain whose influence has major ramifications across the game's timeline. King of Fighters 13 is the last game in Millennium Arc, in which a shadow organization wants to manipulate time to destroy humanity, and the descendant of the leader screws over several heroes to stop the group. Overall, King of Fighters is a legacy franchise that has lasted just as long as Capcom's Street Fighter, sharing the same arcade popularity over the years, and even featuring characters from their parent company's (SNK Playmore) entire back catalogue of games, and I mean their ENTIRE back catalogue. King of Fighters is a technical game requiring a skilled understanding of your controls, because certain moves are need about 10 to 12 button and movement combinations to pull off. So if you enjoy that type of game, I'd say give a whirl.

King has always been one of my favourite fighters...her moves aren't OVERLY flashy but they are just enough. the ones in the suits you are referring to are Mature and Vice: Mature is Blonde & Vice is red...there has been debate over the different games about which character uses which signature moves...but they both have the skull animation and a signature power. Mature is fast and represents light, Vice is strong and represent dark. Most games seem to agree that Vice does the red skull and Mature does a white skull...but there has been one or two games that contradict this (and it was the other around, maybe that was a mistake...i'm not sure) regardless now a lot of fans argue about it.

You should watch the team endings of KOF 13. Ash's ending is the one that makes me sad every time I see it

Capcom get back at them by making fun of their two characters Ryo and Robert and made a parody,and that parody is Dan Habiki. They made fun of Ryo and Robert’s special moves and made them look weak on Dan. Capcom and SNK are huge friendly competitive rivals at that time.

One of the best fighters I've played, definetly. Wish we could have sprites like this again but they almost (or maybe they did, I don't remember) went bankrupt because of them so, you know... The best part is just how loud all the hits are, I loathe fighting games where your hits FEEL and LOOK weak. Also some of the characters like Kyo and Iori are done again because they're essentially different versions of the characters with slightly different moves. Since you guys are checking out Warhammer content these days, maybe you could watch some trailers of Vermintide 1 and 2? Not all of them but the main ones and maybe the DLC ones for 2 some day?
