I want to point out that that Solar Beam being "not good on Water" is completely false, I have no clue where you got that. It's a Grass Type move, which are Super Effective, 2x effectiveness, on Water types. Blastoise WOULD be hurt by it, a lot, and for Charizard would have a 4x resistance to it, not be weak to it.

I'm always kinda sad Venusaur gets that much hate. I played red and blue so many times and like pretty much everyone else I started off the first time with Charmender, then did one with a Squirtle, and ended up trying Bulbasaur last. It was quite surprising how powerful Bulbasaur/Venusaur becomes over time and I started up liking him most out of the three.

Yeah, the beam you said doesnt work on blastoise(squirtle) actually does. Its strong against water type.

My first starter was Bulbasaur, so seeing him go down so fast broke my heart. Charizard was my second pick, and then he blew up from water. Bulbasaur is still my favorite starter to this day. The reasoning makes a lot of sense, and this is coming from someone who does challenge Nuzlocke runs as well as did lots of team battling 10 years ago. Yes, Pokemon is A *LOT* of math when you get into the more extreme difficulty of challenges or in competitive settings. I'm hoping they'll tackle another set of starters one day. One note, Venusaur/Bulbasaur's Solar Beam is considered a Grass attack, which is super effective against Water types, despite how they had to compare it to a magnesium fire laser. It also takes an extra turn to fire off, unless the sun is out through Sunny Day, which it doesn't learn without outside help. Good reaction and good guesses on the victor!

There's a Pokemon fighting game, Pokken Tournament, made by the same team that does the Tekken games. You should react to the supers from that. Pokemon are also assist characters in Super Smash Bros, and you should react to all of those.

Pokémon is a great series. It’s actually got a decent amount of lore and mysteries and is kinda dark. I definitely hope you do more Pokémon videos in the future. KZfaqrs like Lockstin & Gnoggin and bird keeper Toby have amazing videos covering lore of individual Pokémon and the lore of the games. Lockstin & Gnoggin has a great series explaining every type of Pokémon. I’d recommend starting there.

So, I don't know if this was planned by the game devs, but in the original Gen 1 Pokemon games, your starter Pokemon basically sets the difficulty of the entire game, or at the very least the early game. You see, the first two gyms leaders are Rock and Water based gyms respectively. That means that if you choose Bulbasaur, the grass-type, you will have an easier time as Bulbasaur is great against those two types. Squirtle will get you through the first gym, and can serve as a respectable tank in the second, but you will need to find something better to actually do damage. However, Charmander is not effective against a gym until the FOURTH GYM, halfway through the entire game.

Seeing these 2 do a nuzlocke would be amazing (baring time) they'd keep eachother accountable. And if they were to make it to the end, should battle nuzlocke team to nuzlocke team.

so actually Venasaur's solar beam would be highly effective against Blastoise. Not only is it a grass type move but also a special move and Blastoise defense against special moves is alot weaker then against physical ones

So what they meant at 1:31 is that since they are wild Pokémon there will be no outside assistance from Pokémon trainers like learning a move they can’t learn naturally. Mega Evolution is process of evolution that allows the Pokémon to change forms which these Pokémon are capable of doing, but they need a trainer and an item known as a Key Stone for that to work. Ev/Iv training are just stats that are focused on for competitive battles which also includes a trainers help. What fell onto the starters were rare candy which levels up a Pokémon by one level.

Grass is strong against water but weak against fire. Fire sets grass aflame. Water puts fire out. Grass uses water to grow and become stronger.

every charizard i faced is pretty standard with Flamethrower or fire spin, wing attack or aerial ace, dragon rage or dragon claw, and maybe seismic toss as a surprise or maybe overheat but no matter what its ability doesn't kick in much as it only works as a last resort if health is low. Blastoise is always Hydro pump, rapid spin, Withdraw or Iron Defense, rapid spin, and possibly bite or crunch as a surprise. Venasaur usually is Solar beam, Vine whip, possibly leech seed, and leaf storm. the point is create distance with it. Blastoise is a tank, while Charizard just hits hard and fast.

If you want to know more about Pokémon, then I suggest a guy called “KingK” that made retrospective videos for Generations 1-5. Generations being indicators for when the mainline games were released. Lowest numbers being the earliest games and higher numbers being the latest games. As of now, we are in Generation 9 of Pokémon games. Another guy to look up would be this channel called “Lockstin and Gnoggin”. He’s a Pokémon theory crafter and goes into some fun trivia stuff about Pokémon or groups of Pokémon.

So there a couple small issues I have with this battle, supposedly death battle runs these battles multiple times, this one in particular is easy to run over and over due to the combatants having built in hard coded stats. Death battle says that they ran these fights with no IVs (basically a natural boost to a stat that the Pokémon is born with) and no EVs I agree with no EVs, but IVs should be randomized. Also they said that statistically Blastoise (the turtle) is the tank, this is technically true, but Venusaur (the plant) is far more tanky due to the wide range of support abilities it has, with leech seed (which slowly drains an opponent’ hp to restore its own, and synthesis which it does use in the battle), it can also (assuming in game rules) have either sleep them or poison on them but not both at the same time(however, leech seed stacks with either). Also technically with Venusaur using sweet scent both Charizard and Blastoise will ALWAYS be hit by any move Venusaur uses, this is important because it means Venusaur always gets a sleep on both and then is able to seed them, it can then reliable heal for at least one turn and will be at or near max strength when they wake up, from here both are being drained (Blastoise might shake them off with rapid spin but they can always be reapplied because the effect of sweet scent being permanent in the type of fight) and Venusaur can rapidly drain their hp by layering the poison with seeds or can lock them down with drain forever with sleep, it can also attack freely whenever healthy. Frankly Venusaur might not always win but should be consistent winner because not only is it barely any less bulky than Blastoise, but it has such a strong support repertoire (and consistent percentage based damage) that it easily withstands and even outlasts a Charizard outside of sun (especially if rain is up) and even beats a Blastoise (who has no recovery) in terms of bulk. I should also mention if they treated the simulations like actual wild Pokémon with running with random IVs there will be several situations in which Venusaur out performs Blastoise defensively before adding its support abilities due to the Blastoise having low-middling IVs and Venusaur having middling-high IVs.

Definitely recommend Charizard vs Greymon. The end of that Death Battle was brutal.

I love this battle, but I will always love Charizard the most out of the 3 contenders. I mean, the starting pick that basically becomes a dragon is a fan favorite for a reason! You're absolutely right to love Squirtle, though. The only people who don't like Squirtle are... weird...

First, Solar Beam is a grass move, so it's great against water pokemon like Squirtle. Second, those candies are called rare candies. Using one instantly raises a Pokemon's level.

Personally, I am a Venusaur guy myself. Never really cared for Charizard and Blastoise is always a close second for me. If you are interested in more Charizard, or more Pokemon, or just another creature collection franchise in general. I would highly suggest you guys check out the death battle of Charizard vs. Greymon or Pokemon vs. Digimon

Yeah that was our childhood. Mostly. It looks very cute and simple, but believe me, this is not for kids (meant in a derogatory way) like it's for babies ha ha.. F*ck no, because the combat system is way to complex for that. The 18 different types of Pokémon theoretically result in 324 possibilities of how the individual types can be combined with each other. However, the Pokémon games do not differentiate between the first and second type when calculating damage, so that only 171 effective combination possibilities remain here. And there is many many more. The anime for the last 30 years is.. something different, i'll go with the games.

Pokemon is a vast franchise with many things that will blow your frickin minds. I'm currently obsessed with the story in SV--it deals with a lot of things you wouldn't expect out of a game for middle schoolers. Two elements in the story made me legitimately upset. And it's all issues that kids may be facing, told in a way that they can understand. It's a shame the games are super glitchy because there's an excellent story here with great characters (two aspects that won major awards from Famitsu gaming magazine) but a lot of the fanbase dismisses the entire game over some sloppy programming. Like, Pokemon games have always been held together with duct tape and prayer and yet people still laud the older games...idk what people want. They say they want mature games and then they GET mature games and dismiss them over unrelated things (SM had a storyline that dealt with things like child abuse, and people call them baby games because they're a little easy). Idk what people want.
