The wonderful thing about temperature is how many ways it can be defined. If you poke through all my related videos, I use three definitions eventually. Personally, I think the most elusive one is the best. And that's the zeroth law, of course. Cuz it emphasizes that it's not thermal energy that is equalized between objects, as one might naively suppose.

good style of explain with fun.thanx. i have que:the pressure of bulb of a constant volume gas thermometer is 73 cm of hg at 0 degree c.100.3 cm of hg at 100 degree c.and 77.8 at room tempeture.find the room temperature in centigrade??

Hey this was a great video. I have a question for you: When they were maintaining the mercury level to keep the volume constant in the constant-gas thermometer, were they literally adding drops of mercury into the glass cylinder?

yep, to compensate for the increase in the pressure in the gas thermometer they added mercury to tube , and we all know how to use a linear relationship for pressure findings .

Think this will be my second question (well asking for clarification this time :D ) on a video of yours within an hour ! .. At 6:20 you say that the pressure of the gas will = Atmospheric pressure .. is this just because of pascals law and the Idea that the pressure in (to mercury) = Pressure out (to gas) which in this case is only atmospheric pressure? .. Once again great job doc :)

Temperature is how hot or cold an object is, how can you define temperature by the zeroth law of thermodynamics?? It's just a part of so called definition of temperature.
