Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down X-men 97.

We've now hit the first in the three part finale with the episodes being called Tolerance is Extinction. This is a mentality we've seen throughout the characters with Beast leaning into it at Genosha. Rogue dropped Trask like it was a like on the video and there's a real feeling like they might have had enough. Genosha was basically akin to a terror attack and we know what happens in the aftermath of those. Theres lots of big things that the shows tackling with and throughout this video we're gonna breakdown it all. This will contain easter eggs, hidden details and things you missed along with everything. Make sure you subscribe for our breakdowns on the final two episodes as I cant wait to talk about them too.
With that out the way, thank you for clicking this, now let's get into X-men 97.

Now rather than getting the usual added in shots we just get repeated ones from earlier in the season. Not trying to slag them off mate but these show Cable and Apocalypse in their future war in the year 39999, you know...you get Nimrod and Mastermould and lastly a shot of Magneto at Asteroid M. This pulls from the episode Sanctuary and we will talk about it more later on in the video.

@highdefinition450 they're not though if you watched the whole series. Doom was already trying to form international alliances in the Fantastic 4 animated series. His tech centric country would be heavily invested in the mutant war. That's Heinrich Zemo not his son. Based on the headband and the mask actually adhesive-X'd to his chin. Dude is a Nazi. In his universe he's the person atop the mutant experimentation in the 40s. Since he took over for Strucker in the SS when the latter was banished and formed HYDRA. Him being there confirmed everything about his comic origin. He's literally called the greatest scientist of the third Reich. Would be absolutely epic if they deliver on it and he refers to Magneto by his number like a savage, to traumatize him instantly as the mastermind of his tumultuous youth. I couldn't pinpoint the outline of the third person the lady. But I'm sure that's a deep mutant hating person as well. Doom is strategic. Zemo being the funder makes more sense than anything I've ever seen in the comics. Since they usually just wrote in a new character. Cap about to drop a mountain on old boy. Imma find who she is if somebody doesn't do it today. 😂 Edit: somebody had. It's Madame HYDRA. Which of course they would be invested in it too. Love it!!!!

Cables usage of the word "Utopia" is actually the perfect description given to this potential future. Unlike what most people think of when people describe places as Utopias it isn't really a positive descriptor. The term actually is a description for "a society thriving by standing on top of another one", like how in Bastions future society basically treats mutants like appliances instead of as people. Man the writing in this show knows what it is doing.

Askani/Phoenix/Rachel Summers was the one fixing the bridge aside from being a slave from Utopia, Magneto’s Children are all present too in their old variant/version. Polaris was very evident then the two working on rocks were Scarlet Witch & QuickSilver(from Days of future past part 1 doing a mission with Wolverine & Bishop). On the Purple screen TVs before Doctor Doom, Helmut Zemo & a silhoutte of Madam Hydra, the First silhoutte of woman with a wavey hair down was Sunspot’s mother

Bastion made a "blink and you'll miss it" comment on how the Prime Sentinels can locate mutants while undercover, specifically that they could hunt mutants hitting on them in dive bars. This argument was used to justify the hate crime that led to Matthew Shepherd's death in 1998. There was victim blaming there because he accepted a ride home from two men pretending to hit on him. Beau de Mayo knew what he was doing when this was included, and I absolutely love him for that!

At 13:25 that is not a Sentinel. That is Machine Man created by Jack 'the King' Kirby. He actually debuted in the comic version of 2001: A Space Odyssey. I believe it was issue number 8.

Summers family road trip in a Porsche; love it. I also love how the episode treated the Summers trio as a family. Jean making sure her son was buckled in was icing on the cake. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Apocalypse make his appearance until the final episode of the season to lead into the next season and the next season will be the straight on war throughout the series. I do believe the graves we have seen in the previous 90s run are starting to come true. We may in fact start seeing more of the X-Men being buried. As far as Captain Marvel making a cameo it will be a different Carol Danvers than her as Captain Marvel. In the 90s run of the animated series she is known as Miss Marvel and last time we saw her is in the hospital after Rogue took her powers.

@@TNEQLhow and why? Gambit can’t be a hero unless he’s six feet under?? Really? They’re super heroes; it devalues nothing. If they can break Superman’s back and act like he’s fully dead, just to bring him back with long hair…they can bring back Remy 🙄. How many times as Jean “died”? Sacrificed herself? No one is questioning if she’s heroic. It’s time to stop shitting on Gambit and using him as a story scapegoat, because they’re not creative enough to write for him.

@@peregrintook310 Constantly devaluing death in the comics IS an issue, because it lends no emotional stakes to anything that happens anymore. I don't feel any loss or sadness in a story because I know their death is just going to be reversed within the year anyway. Claremont originally wanted Jean to stay dead. It was editorial that pushed to bring her back. If I need to explain why resurrecting a character in a story all about tragedy and loss and letting go of the past robs the story of it's emotional weight.. that's a discussion about media literacy far too long for any KZfaq comment. tl;dr it's not a noble sacrifice if you didn't actually sacrifice anything.

Yep it was, but MM was infected by Sentinel nanotechnology & began attacking mutants briefly in a late ‘90s storyline in the comics, hence the egg.

Doctor Doom and Zemo showing up seems to be hinting at a huge supervillain team up with the Masters Of Evil. This means that the Avengers and the X-Men will be teaming up against this new Masters Of Evil.

Not at all my friend. It's gonna lead to multiple teams of X-Men. So magneto is gonna go back to being a villain by the end of the season. Prof x stays. Next season is avengers vs X-Men with a radicalized cyclops who turns to magneto. So you get an injustice style season 3 of cyclops vs wolverine or storm. Doom and zemo will basically be plot threads for each of those teams and you end things of with a version of onslaught to bring everyone together

This show is the new blueprint for the MCU. A test run to implicate every powerful marvel hero team (besides maybe the guardians) into a show to help map out the best way to build it up for the big screen. This could very well be the future of our MCU.

I would’ve gasped when Spider-Man showed up if it wasn’t for my current migraine rn, but ignoring my migraine, I was hyped asf. Something tells me that Spidey’s cameo wasn’t just a small cameo and He’s definitely gonna believe it’s his responsibility to help others, basically joining in and teaming up with the X-Men for a second time.
