That Race No. 4 was one of my worst Defiwind Races ever.
Right before the start I got stuck in a huge windhole, just like many others. Start was at 1:00 min. in the clip, you can see the boat on the horizon :)
So started much too late but decided to fight for a good place anyway. Was catching up a lot, 1st mark already Top 100 I guess.
Catched up a lot more on the way back. 2nd mark got stuck again in another windhole. Lots of guys I just passed were passing me again.
After I could manage to get my board back into planing I could gain some more places on the reach. Especially in the flat.
Right after mark No. 3 I got stuck in the 3rd windhole again. All the light guys came smoking me from behind :)
On the last reach I saw Diony Guadagnino coming from the top. I knew I could push him upwind but I got stuck right before the finishing line in a piece of seaweed. That was the "highlight" of my Race.
Could still finish in 46th place wich is pretty Ok if you consider all those incidents.
Wind was between 5 and 38 knots.
Was on my JP Australia 62 and my new Neil Pryde EVO XIII 5.8

Great to post this when it was a frustrating race. Thanks Andy! However do you choose the right kit when the wind is between 5 and 38 knots!? That's ridiculous!

Tuff race , gusty offshore, wind shadows from a 1000 sails and seaweed too 😱. Well done getting round in 46th. Hope you didn't have to put up with the little English freestyler beating you. lol😀

the camera angle is incredible I mean we can see you better how you react in the gusts as well as your equipment, the Neilpryde rig, the sail which opens with each oversale and the competitors . The feeling of tacking on your board while watching it on the big screen in the living room. 🚀 what is the sail area suitable for the wind?

I was on 62 board and 5.8.in gusts was good but in lows the foils have huuuge advantages. next time foil :) thanks a lot

yes exactly, I should habe taken foil and 5.4 foil sail. next time I know better :)

I wanted to start in the middle cause I knew the foilers would be faster. Ended up in the back :)

Yeah i was so frustrated Also. Wanted to go on foil and switched fin last minute on 5,0. Big error. Race 5 i did it with the foil and it was wayyyy better

Schade das mit den 360 Kameras alles so verzerrt angezeigt wird. Sind zwar manchmal schöne Perspektiven, aber mir haben die Clips wo du mit 2 normalen Cams gefilmt hast besser gefallen. Natürlich trotzdem angeschaut👍

Dank Dir. 2 cams am Kopf sind ueber diese Distanz echt schwer. Aber vielleicht naechstes Jahr mal wieder :)
