I don't think the ladies interviewing & asking questions completely understood or had much background on who or what the band Deftones was. I think she was trying to get the band to talk about the "remixed song" passenger that's up for a Grammy but didn't quite ask the question properly.

Chino wanted to break into his story, "Way back in 2000 we were nominated for a Grammy but I thought there was no way we could win so I didn't go, but you know what... we did win but I still wasn't there. This year I'm here!"

I dont think thladies where awkward or their line of questioning was awkward it just chino have like short responses I guess the interviewers were looking for more elaboration which really none is needed

I think the Recording Academy does a good enough job with their nominations. I think every generation gives into that narrative of "today's music isn't as good as it was in (insert decade)." And because of that, we think the Academy only has 10 trash artists to nominate. The reality is that the Academy is made up of musicians, not 15-year-old teeny boppers. Popular music IS nominated because it actually is good, BUT many of the nominations are of talented musicians that you won't hear on the radio. I personally would say check out this years nominees and listen to a few of the artists. You may be pleasantly surprised! I tried this in 2014 and discovered Snarky Puppy and Hiatus Kaiyote as they were both nominated for best R&B Performance with the likes of Bruno Mars. I check the list every year and ALWAYS find something good.

I love Genesis (the song that was nominated in the same category as Dream Theater), but I think Amazonia by Gojira deserved it more. But Gojira, Deftones, and Dream Theater were all three incredible bands that deserved it almost equally.

I didn't even listen to the Dream Theatre album, but seeing that they were placed into this category after the Grammy's have dissed them since before Deftones formed, I was like, I bet it's Dream Theatre's time. (that is totally my own opinion, but Dream Theatre was always known as a musicians band, & the academy never felt they had enough attraction value with regular music fans so they have been getting overlooked for decades.)

Both magnificent albums. Dont be like that. Ohms is indeed a masterpiece. Somehow better than White Pony to my ears, no idea how these guys did it!

@@saintjabroni It’s a shallow opinion to have on a Deftones album tbh. The band put a lot creatively in it & Terry Date made it one of the best sounding albums they’ve made. It wasn’t a SNW or Gore situation where there band had internal conflicts about the sound, Ohms was essentially a come back album after years of growth

@@blueberrydenim4807 I take music very seriously, made by anybody, and even more so of the bands/artists I hold in high esteem… Production is cold, vocals overall too shrill, and most song structures tend to lack any memorability. Opener and closer are the keepers, quite good. Ultimately I don’t care about an album’s backstory if it’s that hard to enjoy.

@Juan Karlo Cházaro I just haven't liked anything they've released since he joined the band. He had alot of influence on the songs they were making and I dont like it at all. I used to be a HUGE Deftones fan. Than Chi died and their music has not been the same at all. They just kicked him out so maybe they'll get someone who doesnt this time.

They earned a Grammy for "Elite" in 2000.
