Every time I listen to "This Link Is Dead" I feel the need to listen to "When Girls Telephone Boys." I'm sure others have noticed how these to songs sound similar. So I made a sectional mashup of the 2!
I originally was just gonna make a short mashup using only some elements from each song. But then I thought, "f**k that, I'm gonna make a long progressive mashup using as much from each song as possible." So I ended up using everything from each song except 1 verse from each song. The original "This Link Is Dead" has 4 verses. So I cut out one. "When Girls Telephone Boys" has 2 verses, but I only used 1 - made it a bridge instead of a verse though.
The result is a brutal Frankensteinian 7½ minute progressive metal song. And I f**king love it! I'd love to hear Deftones make more long prog songs like this. The length and progressive nature kind of reminds me of "Pink Maggot," which is one of my favorite songs by Deftones.
