Something I love to do with the Mavericks is the send them after players who camp the airfield. You can launch it savely from outside the AAs range and it won't trigger RWR and can't be flared

I'd say that if it comes to the positioning at the start of the battle, it also depends on the vehicle. Is your jet exponentially good at climbing like F-104? You may climb to 6km+ and then dive straight on your enemies if it wasn't an uptier. Are you in a jet with no countermeasures and there are probably SU-25s or A-6s in enemy team? Don't even climb and try flying away from the middle of the map, get around it and you may be able to get on the six of these pesky SU-25s, unless you get interrupted. When I was grinding the F-5E with F-104C, F-100D and F-2 sabre recently, every time during an uptier, I tried flanking the enemy team low, which usually either ended with me snatching some sneaky kills, not getting any, because my team stomped the enemy team or got completely obliterated, because my team was already dead. If I had got a downtier, then I'd climb to around 3km and then engage lone targets without any interference from unexpected R-60MK vibe check. The last exception was when I unloved rocket pods for F-104C, because despite it lacking flares, for some reason you can mount only one rocket pod under one wing, which gives you ~10 "flares", which actually allowed me to use the excellent F-104C climb rate despite SU-25 presence, because R-60MKs easily loose track if you shoot a small serie of FFARs.

i know this plane doesnt have SARH but when chasing you can do a bit of trolling if you lock on someone and fire an AIM-9 most people will interpret it as an AIM-7 after seeing youre in a phantom they start bleeding off all their speed enough for a vulcan spray, has worked for me more times than it should and its so funny

Oh, so that's why I see people staying way left in lower rank games. But it doesn't seem necessary when you don't have to worry about missiles. I usually go more right or straight up the middle, figuring I can help spot and maybe drag a guy into a trap or flank somebody.

German air top tier is a total joke. Highest br plane is 11.3 and while every other tree (except Britain) )has a competitive top tier fighter we consistently get nothing. MLD is barely even mid, 21 bis isn't competitive, tornado is absolute dog poo. I refuse to play sim ( my favorite mode) because I'll get dookied on immediately by a f-14/f16. We need a Mig 29, or really anything competitive but bc German ground is really strong people laugh when German air mains speak out.

Man I'm not having fun in this fucking thing, slow af and bleeds energy like a delta. So weak compared to Kfir or F-104.
