The queen mother hated Wallis. She felt her husband's early death was due to him having to be King.

That just proves she loved her man ❤️ and he was just as traumatised as his older brother was. In fact, it was said that was the reason he stammered. He was a shy, quiet man. She loved her family and was concerned for her daughters and the role Elizabeth in particular had to take on.
@sagrammyfour6 ай бұрын
He was NOT "just as traumatized as his older brother." He thrust the weight of the world on his brother. God graced the new king with guidance, and he did a good job; however, it took its toll, and in the end, cost him his peace and his life So, why wouldn't she hate that greedy little selfish pervert? @@jessiemacgregor1357

So “The Crown” was accurate on this point. I wonder if they are as accurate with everything else? I’ve got a lot of digging to do.

I have the new King Charles biography which of course I will read, Nonetheless, if you read it I will follow it avidly. I like the way you dig into each situation. I do that a bit but nowhere as near as forensically as you do it. I love listening to your take, And I love being read to. It’s a really new experience for elderly old me!

David’s father, George V, was known to have terrifying outbursts of temper. He verbally berated his sons and physically abused them. David also had a monster of a nanny, a sadist, who verbally, physically, and emotionally, abused him. His mother, Mary of Teck, didn’t have a maternal bone in her body. Children live what they learn. I don’t think there’s any mystery as to why David chose an abusive, controlling woman, like Wallis Simpson. I really enjoy your intelligent commentary and wit, Cheere. 😉

The small amount of caring David and his siblings got was , all they knew that love could be. lowest form I can imagine. But yet the king's mother Mary ? She was wonderful with Elithabeth and Margaret. All her grandchildren. Why do they change with grandkids? I wonder why it softens them?

I have just heard extracts from George V's diary and he was really cruel about David. I'm not surprised he was such an odd soul. Still despicable, though.

King Charles was very close to the Queen Mother so probably listened all his life to the terrible person Wallis was. He would have been angry with them on his granny’s behalf

I love your interpretation, however the RF blamed David and Wallis for the Kings early death. He stuttered and could not speak because of it! Also, Wallis and David called the Queen Mother Cookie because she was over wait. The Queen Mother over heard them speak about her in contempt!

Curious fact about Harry,..."the prince was christened Henry Charles Albert David by the Archbishop of Canterbury." Harry not only shares some traits with The Duke of Windsor but also his name . Curious that Elizabeth II would approve that.
