I somehow think those alphabet "issues" are not very popular with the target customers demographic of a TRACTOR SUPPLY company. Actual working people have very little tolerance for BS.

DEI was roadkill from the beginning. Implementation was funky, results didn't align with profitability.

DEI at universities still has a significant impact on the market and that can easily translate to MEI for a chunk of those people. Just wanted to put that out there

What is MEI. Also DEI was eliminated at the student level at least, but way too late.

the local area funding for schools is not exactly true. Baltimore city spends more per student than Baltimore county. Baltimore county has a substantially higher income per capita than the city.

Even a tractor supplier of all things had DEI roles!? I just cant believe it sometimes. The engineer that early got me and an electrician electrocuted was a DEI hire. After he nearly got us and several civilians hurt or killed, the electrician said I would be telling that story for the rest of my life. I never heard of DEI until that day a city engineer refused to lock the public out of the pool until we verified the park was safe. The engineer insisted verification was not necessary and because the DEI engineer deemed it safe (without verifying the circuit was indeed off beyond opening the breaker at the panel) they opened the park and let people run around not ten feet from the light pole that got us on the grass area between the pole and the pool. The electrician laughed it off saying this is what we do fixing he cities problems. The engineer must be way more important than us electricians he said. When we verified he was wrong we made the engineer look bad he said. You're heart may stop in ten years kid but today you graduate as an electrician for the city even if you don't complete you're apprenticeship. So what did I learn in my apprenticeship? Well...... I learned that you can survive electrocution sure, but you can get cooked internally and as parts of you die inside and try to come out you must drain it out of your body and in my case it's been my spine that I drain every day so I can walk. Could you believe I continued to compete in that apprenticeship with a swelling leg? I get assigned to a foreman who got caught making out with the steward on the job several times. Those gays are gay the rest of the crew warned me. Good luck working with them they warned me. Well would you believe that foreman demanded I be gay with him if I ever want to continue working in Boston again? I can't believe it either. Never in my life had I met such an aggressively gay man who could turn purple with anger every time I said I was not interested and I am straight. It must of been all the steroid cocktails he needed to get through his job because I can't make sense of it. Some jobs/careers are real character building aren't they! Stopping my rant and changing it to a rrrrraaaaaawwwwwrrrrrrr

Let's divide people into different group based on their abilities. The only thing I can accept regarding DEI is that, if the person's overall ability is C-, DEI can only push it to C, if C+ then B-. and that's it. So DEI is functioning properly, and corporation is still getting the proper employee. Even it doesn't work occasionally, you still have a ok engineer who knows the basic principle. The reality: big corp got some C- - people due to DEI and reject the B++ candidates. Guess what's even worse, the current A+ employees have to spend tons of time to train those C- - to reach the basic B level so they can start the job. Further draining the revenue model.

About the VA Disability Rating System under W: I had reason to call the Texas Attorney General at the time about an unrelated matter, but shennannigans at Brook Army Medical Center came up. He investigated, and then got changes made at the Texas Veterans Commission to aid in processing claims, tripling the process rate and increasing approvals. He also worked with other States to get them doing the same.

This has more to do with the basic problem of management and oversight. Managers are incetivised to hire as many people as possible because that affects their job security and pay scale. They are looking for any pretense to hire more people and also have the challenge that they dont know who can actually do the job. Even if they understand some of it, theres always some uncertainty, which is where the biases start to affect decisions. When the directive came in to hire DEI people, they were essentially asked to find a job for people they couldnt personally imagine hiring elsewhere. If they knew how to do that they wouldnt need to hire DEI people. Same reason HR exists even though most people hate on them; if managers knew how to handle that shit the HR department wouldnt exist. The problem is that the issues are always treated with a band aid at the end point(hiring personnel). Rather than where people get to live, what kind of education and environment they get growing up, etc. No top down directive will fix this.

Come on now we all know DEI in the way you’re / some media speak of is a myth, those were just buzz words because if that was the case it can easily be argued the other way around too . Companies will always do whatever Will make them money , those that prioritised DEI because it made them money will continue to do so and those that didn’t prioritise those values in the first place they never did to begin with . I always find these types of topics funny and silly when I hear people frame it as if these corporations are out there running some sorts of charity hiring, like really. also are these the same tractor companies that are increasingly Charging for software nowadays ? 😂😂, trust me they’re just looking for new buzz words to create attention, doesn’t take a genius to figure out who their main demographic of customers are and if I was advising them it’s a perfect strategy, i mean why would a corporation need for big announcements on things that are always done internally, American Capitalism at work again 🤦♂️.

Maybe 60 years ago this was true. You're forgetting that investment firms and government contract are heavily dependent on this stuff. They have adopted them as requirements. "We'll extend your contract but you need to increase your diversity rate of 10% to 40% first" is common as fuck. This doesn't affect race as much as it does gender. Lots of places have been out there hiring the breast for the job instead of the best.

DEI was an intended failure. The problem with this country not deeply addressing and making right what’s done to generations of black families has amplified this sub group of people who’ve never had the genuine opportunity to build industries in this country. Look at the history of Tulsa and so many once thriving black businesses areas where the US government intentionally desecrated them. Now comes DEI, an obvious failed plan from the start. A bandage on deeply rooted issues that obviously at some point lead to these outcome of performance issues. If a group of people haven’t had the appropriate mentorship, training, education for generations and can only solely rely on a company hire them to check a diversity box…it’s clearly not sustainable long term.

You can't fix what happened in the past, you can only work in the present towards future expectations. That's why it's important to set expectations carefully, according to achievable waypoint goals. "Live each day as though it were your last, do each thing as though you would live a thousand years." I find that avoids creating regrets.

hmm the soldiers example reminds me of the standard Christ holds for the Christians. Popular example would be the good samaritan, or for example you see hungry person and you tell them "go in peace" or some other kind of jive instead of actually helping. everyone wants the identity.. partly why I dislike people wearing crosses on their ears or neck. They speak like sailors and resemble nothing. It's just a cringey fashion statement. I am a Christian but I know how poorly I stand at that and avoid wearing all those things because I am rightfully ashamed of myself. Don'y know how much better that is... probably not by much
