Dear music friends and fans,
after the two "Gone" videos, the concept for "One Night" was also implemented in the black and white aesthetics typical of the "Indicator" album. I will never forget how much I had to prepare rather unusually for this shoot. Our dear art director JG Geldermann had thought of shooting the clip backwards, so I also had to somehow learn to sing the song backwards as well because lip-synchronicity was of course required.
A seemingly endless shoot, until late at night, with strange fire gimmicks that luckily nobody noticed and did not cause us any further trouble. But in the end, these men came in their white jackets, and they kindly took me away. Or how did that go again ?!
The result to us, even from today's point of view, is still quite remarkable, and it is a shame that we did not realize a suitable counterpart to the German version, "Bei Nacht".

auch mich begleiten die Lakaien seit Jahren, immer wieder schön an einem Morgen im Zug zur Arbeit... man achte auf seine Mitmenschen... traurig... ich bin sehr froh eine Band wie diese zu kennen und ihre Kunst zu lieben und zu verstehen

Alexander Veljanov's voice instantly pulls me towards something beautiful and calm as soon as he starts singing. May it be... his charisma? Mixed with Ernst Horn's love for harmony and warm tones this is like a dreamy island in a giant sea of dark, dirty water.

Alexander's charisma is something out of this world. I was at Deine Lakaien acoustic concert in Berlin 2019, his appearance on stage looked like some kind of gothic god descended to earth

Bis jetzt wohl die einzige Band bei der sich Live- und Studioaufnahme nicht unterscheiden, weil Jan immer gleich gut sang. Welche Band kann das schon von sich behaupten !! Einfach nur geil der Sound, wenn ich mal Melankonisch bin oder Sehnsucht hab. Außerdem erinnern mich Lakaien immer an eines der drei wichtigsten Lebewesen auf dieser tiefschwarz triefenden Weld.

Both versions have their own ephemeral momentum. The fact they ain't 1:1 but more in poetic sense translated makes them as if two lovers wrote letters as a secret yet committed yet not possible relation, as in the souls found but world has yet the stream of universal chaos. Like the sounds resemble birds, wind and wave. But a wave needn't be of water but.. the mentioned letter could be of such protagonist of "return". Like also the MV in its simplicity of artsyness and even in the trees is meaning lit ... the monochrome is fabulous because the colors exist anyway... of course the inspiring Dylan visits mind but the scene timing tells the plot beautiful and anyone with a photographic eye sees meaning... some shallow words about Alex hairdo, none should compare it as a downer because to have such signature as artist takes courage least have and in my assumption rather ancient magicians with their mistletoe hat appear , like also does dracula so there is something least would understand.. and Alex don't dye it, the silver lining is charming... thanks

Der Song geht von der Stimmung her so richtig schön zurück zur ersten CD, ohne irgendwie "ausgegraben" zu wirken, sehr schön für uns langjährige Fans. :) Das Lip-sync ist nicht so der Hit, aber das lässt sich zur Not als stilistisches Element im Rahmen der künstlerischen Freiheit validieren. ;)
