This was a great interview! 2013 was the year these “fans” really started getting toxic, and it still persists to some extent today. Morgan got so much hate because the person they wanted to be captain wasn’t chosen. Looking back, Chloe definitely made the right choice because 2013 was one of the cleanest lines in recent years. Morgan did a great job incorporating classic J-Sette elements into her field shows, while still making them fresh and new.
@Tristan114064 жыл бұрын
To this day “Got Me Good” and “Bad Girl (2013)” are two of the most innovative routines in recent years. Morgan had it from beginning to end. Her reign doesn’t get enough credit. I hope Kionna gets captain. Maybe her and Morgan can get in the studio and do something’s to prepare for the fall 👀.

@valentino44114 жыл бұрын
I do agree with the two Morgans that the dance teams nowadays are starting to look alike and here's why. Back when I attended JSU from 98-02, the top four SWAC dance teams had their own dancing style. As time went on, teams were expected to "change things up" and give the fans something fresh and new. Captains and Squads have to become more creative and would sometimes unintentionally adopt styles or moves and nuances from other rival dance teams. If each team is expected to break long-time traditions and "switch things up", then it's very normal for them to observe how other rival teams are dancing. Before you know it, all of the squads are gradually adopting each other's styles in order to give the newer generation of fans something new. Another reason why teams are looking very similar nowadays is because each of the current squads has at least one girl who came from a high school that was modeled after a rival college that she currently attends. For example, DD4L is modelled mostly after J-Settes with some slight resemblance to Golden Girls but you will notice that many of the DD4L alumni are members of JSU, SU, ASU, and Alcorn. This means that collegiate styles will began mixing in with one another. For example, McKinley High School is modeled after the Dancing Dolls but there are some McKinley alumni that dances with ASU. If Dani S., Jada, Tailon, Taneria would've became Stingettes versus Dolls, they would started off molding themselves to the Stingettes style as underclassman but as they became upperclassmen or possibly captains there's chances that they would've began re-adopting the style they had always grown up on, which are the Dolls. Before you know it, the Stingettes would start looking more and more like Dolls. This happens in every team and it's very normal. KG mentioned during an interview that her high school dance team was modelled after the Stingettes but she became a JSette and some of the J-Sette current style has some slight resemblance to the Stingettes. That's not being shady because it happens to every team. I'm a huge KG fan and many fans have always felt like some J-Settes like KG and Shannon had a dance foundation more similar to a Stingette but they successfully molded themselves into the J-Sette style. My point is that crossing over into a collegiate team than differs from the style of your high school dance team can result in unintentionally adopting other dance styles when fans are pressuring you "change things up".
@paulrandall67804 жыл бұрын
The Stingette style is based on the J-Sette style. You can vividly see it. One girl and her dance background cannot change an entire squad-with the exception of the Golden Girls. I honestly feel that the J-Settes are holding up tradition even with their new material.
@valentino44114 жыл бұрын
@@paulrandall6780 Yes, I'm talking about Shannon. Shannon was an exceptional dancer with great energy but she had a sharp style of dancing in my opinion when you compare her to some of crab sisters and fellow vettes. When I say she had a "sharper" style, thats not a dig...it just means she placed emphasis on certain sections of her stand counts whereas some of her squad members had a smoother style. Shanika was a JSette when I attended JSU and she oversees the Purple Diamonds. Shanika has always been considered one of the most versatile J-Sette dancers. Shannon was a very versatile dancer so she experience dancing in different kinds of genres which she indicated during her interview with Brie some time ago. I don't want commenters to get caught up into me using "Stingette" as an insult because it's not. To me, the difference between the Stingettes and the Dolls/J-Settes is that Stingettes has a sharper style whereas the J-Settes/Dolls usually have smoother silkier style of dancing. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a long time J-Sette fan and they are my favorites and will always be.
@valentino44114 жыл бұрын
@@paulrandall6780 I think you might be missing my overall point. I'm not saying "one" girl will always change an entire squad. I'm saying that it's normal that as girls cross into different genres at the collegiate level, it's normal for them to unconsciously adopt styles from their younger years when they began to experiment and become more creative. I'm not saying that the J-Settes have broken many traditions..I'm saying that the J-Sette style has evolved over time when you compare the late 90s J-Settes to the current style and alot that has to with the fact that many girls like Morgan J., KG, Neci, Camryn, Deja, and many others are willing to "cross-train" and audition for a collegiate team that differs from their high school style of dancing. Evolving isn't a bad thing. No one is arguing that the Stingettes didn't adopt some of their style from the J-Settes. As the two Morgans mentioned, many of the teams are looking similar nowadays and I simply gave my opinion on why that might be the case. Let me ask you a question...Camryn and Deja came from DD4L which is drastically different from the Dolls and Stingettes but both girls grew up doing ballet and jazz and other styles. It's possible that one or both of them might get Captain in 2-3 years. Do you think it's likely that the Dolls and Stingettes style might evolve ever so slightly once/if they become Captain?
@danielmyles45094 жыл бұрын
@@paulrandall6780 actually one girl can change the style of a team. Captains have a lot of control so what they teach is usually what's done. Like what we saw with the dolls in 17 under Stamper.
@krystaljohnson39784 жыл бұрын
@@paulrandall6780 Idk about this one. When I danced back in 02-05, the Stingettes looked so much like the GGs in the stands we would joke about it. And if the leaders of the teams have different backgrounds and in turn begin to choreograph new stands, field routines and parades, then naturally a style merge is gonna take place.
