Sometimes the bare copper wire has a green sheath, it's still the ground wire tho

Any man who doesn't know how to install a new or different light fixture should turn in his Man Card.

*Deep breath* I’m gonna do this! You make things look so easy. I want my home to look pretty, without paying someone else for every little repair or upgrade.

Girl you’re so talented just binged watch most of your shorts. I just want to give a big shout out to you because it takes a lot of mass patients and skills to do the work you’ve done around your house. You’re an inspiration to all of us moms that want to redo on the budget we can afford. Much love all the way from Arizona.

Definitely test the wires with a voltage tester (runs about $20) before touching them, even after turning off the electricity at the braker. SO often breakers get mislabeled, and with electricity it's better to be safe than sorry.

I did the same recently and the wall light was wired to the plug socket below it so turning off the lights at the fuse box didn’t do anything.

Thank you for sharing this tutorial, I’ve been so afraid to change the ugly lights in my restroom & kitchen for fear of getting fried! I’ll have to try this.

You should always use a non contact tester before touching any wiring even after turning it off at the breaker. Also the ground wires need to be wound under the green screw on the fixture to ensure the fixture itself doesn’t later shock people or cause sparks inside the box.

Live is *usually* black and neutral is *usually* white. But grab a $8 non-contact voltage tester from Walmart or Home Depot and you'll know for sure!

It's possible that the wires you reconnected aren't fully touching inside of your wire nuts. Recheck all of your connections and make sure you twist your wire nuts tight!

Is this the same if I wanted to put a ceiling fan where a ceiling light fixture is? 🤔
@SuSpicious9748 Жыл бұрын
You will need to install one of those ceiling fan brackets. It’ll slide into the existing fixture hole and extend to tighten between the two studs. Highly recommend it otherwise the fan will fall while spinning.

We had 11 wires from the ceiling in our living room 😂😂😂 it took a while to work that out
