At least the doctor one should stay in the movie. This scene was very important to the story and changes a view for Swiney and whole brothel stuff a bit.

I finished the book over the weekend, and it is from there. I wondered then why it wasn’t put in the script…and it was…and it was filmed! Agree, the edit out was a shame.

I always struggled to accept the whole brothel part of the movie, it just felt like it's glamorizing prostitution, but with this deleted scene it makes a whole lotta sense and kinda sits right with me now@@89sooner

I think it's too blatant, it's unnecessary for the film which would explain to me why it's deleted

I think the climax of the movie is helped by it not being there. The main focus of the film is a woman having autonomy over her body. Most of this point is presented fantastically and then when she fights off Alfie, it is presented in a more real world way (but then gets resolved in a fantastical manner)

I really liked Bella and Swiney’s relationship, and having Bella make her pass out to leave the brothel kind of leaves those two characters on a sour note. That being said, the stuff with the doctor is hilarious and I would’ve loved to have it stay in, although we did have a lot of cooky characters at this place already to fill his role. The Alfie’s title card is super cool, but all the others are for real European cities, so I can see why it was left out. The one that’s a real shame to be deleted is Bella looking at the notebook. It gives her character a great moment of realization with wonderful use of the score. Oh well, I guess Alfie relays the information later on and the film is already at 2H 22M, so some scenes had to be cut.

Good scene, but Bella’s use of ether on the madame telegraphs the resolution of the final conflict with Bella’s husband/father, and lessens the tension of that scene.

Wish more scenes were shown, for me, it was weird how Bella got out of Swiney power all of a sudden and the story behind her mother was not revealed at all cause the only information we knew was told by Alfie... But I loved the movie.

I watched the movie because of this clip (didn’t mention it was a deleted scene) and it wasn’t there. I was very disappointed. 😅

I can see why the Director chose not to show these scenes. Would have slowed down the movement. Going forward. The doctor brothel scene was preachy. Too much.

That scene was way to you-go-queen-on-the-nose. The “message” will always ruin a movie.

He tells her friend that she’s delicate and then smugly asks if her hurt her. Bella tells him to let her go. To Bella he tells her shut up, sit down and open her legs and then he says it’s your turn whore. Bella says I don’t like your tone and I insist that you leave
