Saw JL's vid on Ma and Pa's Tex Mex BBQ on Wednesday, July 20. I had a doctor appointment exactly 1.5 miles away in Mount Laurel on Friday, July 22. Decided I gotta try this place. Was looking forward more to Ma and Pa than to the doctor. So ... Today went there. Got there about 6:00 o'clock. It was CROWDED, but that couldn't be just from JL's viewers, could it? Had a couple of brisket tacos and a Mexican Coke sitting at an outdoor picnic bench. Also comes with home-made tortilla chips and salsa. DELICIOUS! Portion size just right. I told the owners JL sent me, and I'll be coming back.

That's green salsa, the difference is the green salsa that looks lighter isn't fried or anything...When it turns military green is because first they boil the green tomatoes, and the jalapeños for a bit, after that they put them on a tortilla grill for a bit and flip them till they get a little charcoal burn on all sides then they put them in a molcajete and make the salsa...And its fabulous, obviously if you want it spicier you just gotta put more jalapeños in there.

As a Lower East Side guy whose first taste of Tex-Mex was in a Taco Bell in Cali back in '68 ("Taco Bell? What's that?"), I get it. These days, 1/3 of the fridge is filled with salsas, salsa ingredients, and various chorizo types, and the same mix goes for the pantry and spice cabinet. When we make our burritos at home or get them from Moe's Southwest, they're just as thick and hefty as what you got at Ma & Pa's. Never heard of that chain before, hafta check it out.
