I started my channel last week with the upload of my first video. After it was published and checking my KZfaq feed, I bumped into Fake Shure SM7B videos. Not thinking of it, I watched a few and it slowly dawned on me that I may have purchased a fake one.
In fact, I had purchased a fake one on eBay!!! And when I discovered it was fake, I was delighted!!! Check out the video to find out why.
The video goes over the top 5 differences between a real and fake SM7B. Note, this list is not all of them, but I wanted to cap it at 5.Ok, there is a bonus 6th one.

I bought a fake one on AliExpress and did not have any of these problems. I had mine modded with the Trace Audio Anser mod that adds 48v of phantom power. Basically turns into a SM7DB.

man it sucks that anyhting that is good these days its heavily replicated and sold as the real deal in attempt to scam people.

I know! I was very fortunate that I was presented a number of Fake SM7B videos on KZfaq that educated me. And like I mentioned in the video, returns are guaranteed on eBay now. Thank you for the comment!!! Eric.

I just don't understand why anyone would want to buy a real Shure SM7B. For the price you can get far superior condenser microphones. I own a Sennheiser MKH 416 which is a 1000 dollar mic, but I also own a Rode NT1 and a Blue Bluebird which are mics that go for the same price as an SM7B, but are far superior. Even an AKG P420, which is a bit noisy, sounds far better than an SM7B. Let's face it, the SM7B is but a dynamic microphone. Now dynamic mics do have advantages. Although they don't pick up as much detail as the condenser mics, that may be an advantage if you record in untreated rooms or in a noisy neighbourhood. But the Shure SM57 is just as good as the SM7B, yet at a third of the price.

Ah, be careful about that. There is definitely a subjective component to it.
