I completely agree with your comment about restaurants needing to decide if they can handle orders. We sat inside a Franky & Bennies - for 1hour 20min to get our food, because the Uber/deliveroo/justEat was so busy. If I had sat at my table and ordered via Deliveroo it would have arrived quicker.

It is getting worse these days. Especially places like McDonalds which were struggling with demand before they introduced home delivery. They have the ability to switch off their tablets but don't seem to use it so everyone suffers poor service.

Hey mate, just wanted to ask what Deliveroo bag u use? Is it the small thermal one or large one (asking coz I need to change mine it’s too big as I started off as a cyclist) Also what’s the name of ur phone mount because I have a older car and standard phone mounts just aren’t doing it for me. I use the small thermal bag, I also use an third party bag which is larger for pizza etc. Here's the link, I'd highly recommend it AviiatoR® Hot Food Delivery Bag With Divider Thermal Insulated 40*40*35cm For Indian, Kebabs, Chinese, Pizza For Restaurants, Couriers, Picnic Cooler Bag, Groceries Boot Organiser Catering Warm Bags amzn.eu/d/9I7wBCP The phone mount is from MPOW but they are not sold anymore unfortunately. Which is a shame because it's brilliant and I don't know what I'll do when it breaks 😢

Hello, sorry for the late reply. You can use Zego top up insurance but you have to make sure your normal insurance provider accepts it. Otherwise shop around for hire and reward insurance, if you plan to do a lot of work it's often cheaper to buy say a month's worth, or even a yearly policy that includes SD&P.

Sorry for the late reply. Where to park is always a challenge especially in the town centre. You learn where is good and where you’ll get parking tickets. It also means a few of the restaurants are completely off limits to car drivers due to lack of parking, especially around busy city centre pedestrian areas. Deliveroo Editions are usually good for cars as they usually have good parking. Supermarkets, service stations and retail parks are the best places for cars.

When you sign up I was issued with a pack for free which included a small thermal bag, a larger bag and some magnetic Deliveroo stickers (which I never used) Your initial pack is different depending on which type of account you choose (Bike, Moped or Car). My kit was all free but I’m not sure if that’s still the case; I know that Stuart take payments during your first few shifts to cover the equipment cost and Uber make you pay upfront.

I think that Burger King struggles with delivery orders, even the one near where I live takes a long time. They supply bottled drinks instead of the usual drink cups which is good but if they are like the one near me, they annoyingly place the cold drinks in the bottom of the bag and place the hot food on top so the cold drinks cool the food down even though you are placing it in a thermal bag. I have complained to Burger King about this as it is not Deliveroo or the delivery persons fault.

How many miles would you do in a night to make that? I guess fuel cost has to come into the equation too
@readingroodriver3099
@readingroodriver3099 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. When I was doing this in my car I was lucky that my car was very economical. I’d usually average about a £1 per mile. I’d work for about 6 hours, usually do about 100 miles and earn about £100 on an average day. Back then fuel cost would be around £15, another £6 for insurance leaving me with about £75 profit. So an average shift would be around the £12.50 per hour mark but sometimes tips and good orders would smash that!

Hi Guys. I wonder how it is in your cities. I work in Edinburgh (Deliveroo) and it often happens that I wait up to 2 hours for the order. I drive a small city car and after deducting fuel and insurance costs, I have 4-6 pounds for an hour.
@readingroodriver3099
@readingroodriver3099 Жыл бұрын
It takes a while to figure out the best places to wait. This is a particular challenge in a car because you can’t necessarily get as close to the restaurants as you can when cycling. In Reading we have a big epicentre of orders at a place called riverside. If I’m not getting orders but it’s showing moderate or busy I will park up, take my bag and go right next to the main restaurants and wait there. I’ll usually pick something up after a few minutes that way.

What about the costs of running the car for delivery purposes?
@h-d3654
@h-d3654 2 жыл бұрын
Mopeds or motorbikes are best in my opinion. When you consider petrol in a car £30-£40 a day on a bike £12 max depending on the cc of the bike my pal spends £6 on petrol every 2 days I spend £12 every 2 days. Traffic in a car kills your time especially if your in stand still traffic rush hour etc. But I suppose it depends on what city you live also. But as this good guy who posted this video he has shown it can be very lucrative in car.
@rhetoricbytolyan1987
@rhetoricbytolyan1987 2 жыл бұрын
@@h-d3654 Petrol cost is only one of the costs of running the business. You have all other kinds of costs too: servicing, spare parts, engine oil etc. And don’t forget, the car or motorbike does not free of cost - eventually it will need to be replaced. Then there are other costs, like an accountant, taxes, phone repairs and replacement and phone bill. These are necessary to take into account to understand what you truly make. In my opinion, the car will eat into profits so much, it does not make an economic sense to use it, especially the prestigious car brands (I saw some dudes making deliveries in brand new Mercedes).
@readingroodriver3099
@readingroodriver3099 Жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry for the late reply. Some of the costs of running the car would have occurred weather I did deliveries or not. I service, tax and MoT my car regardless of what I’m using it for. In terms of additional costs it was about £1.05 extra per hour for courier insurance and of course Petrol on top. I’d service my car twice instead of once per year so add another £150 per year. And mileage depreciation could be taken into account but I got lucky and sold my car a few years later for the same price as I bought it. Thanks inflation!

I've been doing Deliveroo, Uber eats and Just eat for nearly four years. Their rates have come down a lot. You can make £20 per hour on days / times they have a boost, so pay 1.4 X etc the overall rate. The standard rate is a lot less. In my town many Deliveroo orders are £3.15. Uber minimum seems to be £3.00. Just eat still pay more, but it's the only job I've ever had where every few months there is a pay cut. I do this on a motor scooter and pay £1200 a year for insurance. Cost of the bike, servicing, and of course fuel which is always going up. Many drivers try and do multiple orders( drivers put a takeaway in their car and go back for another order, leaving food to get cold, I wouldn't pay for cold food) at the same time, the networks don't like this as they know this equals cold takeaway and poor service, but it's an effect of poor pay. People that have pay as you go insurance do not tell their domestic insurer, as they would cancel the insurance. In reality if you actually try and deliver the food hot you could make £12 per hour after expenses!!! PS tips are not common. More common on Uber, followed by Deliveroo, very rare on Just eat.

Title is deceiving, it’s more like you made more than £20 for an hour or so, you can’t average that at all all day or certain days a week. Just a few lucky orders. Bet you don’t get that anymore, Deliveroo keeps dropping the fees. Maybe you don’t do it anymore like most of these guys KZfaq making these claims, they don’t last plus it’s just luck sometimes. You average over £10 an hour but in a car these days it’s not work it with the cost of fuel and maintenance cost going up.

I'm sorry you felt that way. Obviously I didn't always make £20 p/h and my title doesn't make that claim. On that particular day I averaged about £20 p/h hence the title. I only do deliveroo occasionally now, and you are correct. Since they dropped the fees, it's very rare to make that much although I did during the world cup. And I use an e bike now so actually get a better profit margin. Thanks for watching!
