In December 2020 I delivered a Diamond Da62 from Florida in USA to Asuncion in Paraguay. This is the 6th video of this trip that covers the leg from Manaus to Alta Floresta in Brazil.

Just saw this exact plane listed for sale already… Watched your videos with the whole trip, memorized the “zulu papa golf charlie charlie”, and then i , just to kill time, was browsing all the DA 62 s for sale- surprise surprise, there it was .

I had a very food experience with Alta Floresta! Everything went as planned, the fuel came on time, the handler was prepared with all the necessary paperwork and I was on my way to Cuiaba in no time ! Thank for watching and all the best to you !

Great video! When flying here in Brasil you should contact the frequency of Volmet, this is a service that will provide you the necessary meteorological information that you need, such as wind, qnh and others.

It would be nice IF ATC from those South American countries would watch your videos and compare them to what you hear in the U.S. Yes, we know "the flow" is not as smooth as what you might hear elsewhere. The videos are a valuable introspective into how effective communications skills are. Nice video. Wonder how much Jet A they maintain at the airport?
@MarekMarciniak

Hey buddy, good to hear from you again. Yes , like I said in the other comment - the worst parts ( ATC communication failures) are actually cut out from the videos ... just too awkward to listen to. Some of the stuff they were saying didn't make much sense to me and I had to keep repeating the same phrases over and over again. I realized- the simpler the communication- the better. You just can't ask the complex questions, just simple stuff. I am sure in bigger cities in Brazil like Rio or Brasilia it's a totally different thing since they are dealing with lots of international flights every day but in the jungle things can be little rough though. No issues with Jet fuel. Easily available everywhere for a good price. That's why a Diamond is a perfect GA plane for a journey like that. Avgas availability can be an issue in a lot of places.

Great video! Although, it seems you have been taking a rather indirect route (going through all the islands far to the east instead of direct across the gulf of mexico to mexico yucatan and then direct across the caribbean sea to panama, columbia) and also you only used less than half the endurance the airplane can fly (Manaus to Alta Floresta is only ~600 kilometer, DA62 range is over 2000 kilometer). Any reason for this?
@MarekMarciniak
@MarekMarciniak 2 жыл бұрын
direct route is much more dangerous and takes you over the Andes mountains with very unpredictable weather and other issues like some airports not being available for piston airplanes ( high elevation - decreased performance ), fuel availability, customs hours etc. Also -you are dealing with multiple countries in South America - from what I remember the optimal and most direct route was Colombia - Peru , Brazil and Bolivia ( only 1 country - Brazil if you choose the eastern route .). All these countries had different Covid rules at that time which made things much harder to plan, The difference in time between the western and the eastern routes was only around 2 hours and much, much less potential problems . Also the plane didn't come equipped with oxygen system that was required to pass Andes at high altitude, which meant I needed to purchase a portable oxygen system and couldn't take it back home on a commercial flight. So that's why. As for your other question - yes - the DA62 has that kind of range , but only if you drastically decrease the power to about 50 % , but then you are flying much slower. Also - you have to remember that when planning a route with multiple stops you have to think about other factors like fuel availability , handling availability , weather , airport closures, available procedures in case of marginal weather etc. This was an optimal, very carefully planned route with some legs shorter, some much longer but at the end it worked exactly as planned.

This was a very nice long flight in the beautiful DA62. surely i enjoyed every segment of your trip. Is this how you make delivery? could you not remove the wings, pack it in a container and put it in the cargo plane and deliver? Instead of making the Engine suffer such a very long trip of 7,000Km. What is the price of a new Engine for DA62 if its due for replacement?
@MarekMarciniak
@MarekMarciniak Жыл бұрын
Hi, No it doesn't make sense to remove the wings and ship in in the container. The only planes that are shipped like that are usually small, single engine planes that can't make the journey to places like Australia. Japan or New Zeland, even with the bladder tanks installed. Its actually much cheaper to fly than to remove the wings and ahip itbin the container. Also, a lot can go wrong when you remove the wings, you clhave wing spars, hoses, fuel tanks etc. So every time its possible to fly to a destination- its a NR 1 option.

The panoramic vievs of the Diamond signature Bubble Canopy compensates for the limited view down - typical for low wing aircraft.

E os americanos sabem o português ? para atender os brasileiros?
@MarekMarciniak
@MarekMarciniak 2 жыл бұрын
@@elainesantos3823 We are talking about aviation where English is a official language used for communication. At the end everything worked good but some of the controllers in more remote locations in Brazil could definitely be a little better, but then again - if they deal with very few non Portuguese speaking pilots - then they have no chance to practice at all so they can't be blamed for some of the communication difficulties. I am sure it is very different in bigger cities where the controllers have to deal with tens or even hundreds of airplanes from other countries. Best greetings!
