man I just discovered your channel like a week or so ago, I have been binge watching your videos. So so good. I was really into electronics when I was younger, like building all types of stuff with 555 timers, jk flip flops, shift registers, caps, etc.. You have lit that fire in me to get back into it. Thank you.

Outstanding work as always, I love your work. You inspire me to do micro soldering, because I'm a learning technician in Jamaica, quite young to the work and your videos have taught me a lot. Thanks for being such a open and fair guy, most technicians don't share the methods of the work, especially in such detail. Keep being the great person that you are and may God bless you.

Hi Alex, most EC programmers who work through the keyboard port have the feature to test keyboards. You can see if a key is working or not, stuck or not. But for about 30$ you can also find keyboard testers.

@SiETechNotebookReparatur

@@kdilac8879 No. Keyboards are "analog" (two circuits are switched together on the keyboard matrix when a key is pressed), which the testers can measure. Touchpads have their own controllers and firmware, so this cannot be easy standardised.

Looking at the board and how th alcohol left a visible trace on the board, I bet it was some softdrink or juice on the board that corroded the board, or sweat from a person holding it on their lap for extended periods. Nice fix!

I can only guess, but it appears those traces were probably made too thin, the coating peeled off, then the traces oxidized to nothing. Slight defect in manufacturing. Honestly I'd of guessed the keyboard wasn't any good before i thought it had this problem... you made the right call.

Common issue when you keep your laptop on your lap or inside a backpack in the summer. Sweat and moisture finds it's way into the board. I had several issues with my daily driver laptop unti the keyboard was completely gone and that was the end of it. The keyboard is welded to the case so into the bin it went.

Yes, it happened to me also once for a TV remote. Around 2-3 test pads were totally gone, due to which none of buttons on remote was working. After connecting those, it started working. I thought it could be due to sweat (salty moisture) from hands went inside remote. Not sure how it can happen to a laptop though.

A true gamer takes his lap top everywhere he can to keep up his skills. Even the toilet. Bathrooms dripping with condensation and "flush splatter". Even a "bomb plop" could splash up and cause a moisture hit. Such is the harried life of a gamer.

Probably the corrosion was caused by condensed water which happens when you turn on a very cold laptop in a warm and damp room without waiting some time. A failure of multiple keys is often caused by an issue with only one signal line because the keys are connected in a matrix.

The amount of grime on that motherboard is enough proof that the laptop stays in humid environment or has had food eaten on it. Hence the corrosion.

Alex, I hope you read my comment. I'm wondering, what you do in cases like that, when the part you ordered is not necessary for repair. Do you keep it in stock, as it might come handy in the future, or do you send it back? I'm wondering what's more sensible from a business standpoint - having that bit of cash "frozen" until somebody comes with compatible laptop and issue or sending it back so you get cash back (minus shipping probably). Keep on good work! 👍
