In this video I am going to show you how to remove the under cover of this brand new Dell inspiron Laptop 2017 to be able to upgrade your memory or replaced your hard drive.
In case you guys want to use your dvd unit sata port in your laptop as a second SSD, you can get the following adapter:

Thank you so much for this video. When I took apart the laptop the little clear plastic piece with the silver tape on the end was just rolling around inside the case. Your video was a lifesaver (I subscribed by the way). I was able to see exactly where that plastic piece goes during the section where you showed the Memory installation. Also, thanks for not playing music. Using your voice with helpful tips is the best way to do this type of video.

Awesome! Anyone struggling w getting the CD drive out: There is a little metal part near where the battery goes. Push it outwards and the CD/optical drive will come out.

Subscribed! He is already noticing a big difference in the jump from 4gb RAM to 8gb RAM. Games are loading faster and can be played at a higher frame rate. Other programs that took a ridiculous amount of time to load are now loading much faster. He is very happy!

Always is great to clean the fans. Lift the heat sink, removed all thermal paste and apply new thermalpaste. You increase the life of the laptop. Hope you subscribed and welcome to my channel.

Thank you very much, I have the exact same Laptop that I purchased last March(less than a year ago) and it makes a squicking sound every 10 or 15 or 30 minutes, I suspect it is from the fan. is there a way to clean the fan without the opening of the keyboard or other component?

Better that you open the laptop the proper way. So you are able to remove the fan do a proper cleaning. Specially dust that get stock between the fan and the sink. Please subscribed and welcome.

Thanks for the good video. Question:why do I need to remove the keyboard ribbon cables? I hate those things and have broken them in the past (Gulp). Cant I just leave the keyboard and that other cable connected and flip it over? Thanks!

Yes you have to remove the keyboard and that top cover. There is some screws holding the top cover and the below cover. In that way you have access to the memory ram, hard drive and motherboard. Under the DVD unit one you take it out, there are three small screws holding both covers. When you take out the the battery, remove the screw that is holding the DVD unit, and push it out with a flat screw driver you will see a small section to push it out next to the battery . do all dell inspiron 15 3000 series have a opticle drive in them? mine has a dummy drive and when i open it there is no were for the dvd drive to plug into when it it slid into the slot

Some of these laptop even if they bring a dummy drive. You can take put and put the DVD unit. But you have to make sure that sata connector are available. Dont forget to subscribed.

I will recommend you to follow step by step instructions the way that I did it because under the keyboard there are some screws that you have to remove. It is very easy. The only thing that you have to be careful is removing the DVD unit by removing the screw that is holding it. After that the screws that are holding the chasis under the DVD unit. I took this laptop apart to upgrade to an SSD drive. When I put it back together it didn't recognize the drive. I took it apart and it did seem like I didn't connect the cable tab in snuggly. I was able to pull it out without unlocking it. So I re-connected and put the laptop back together and this time it wouldn't power up. There's a light on the bottom front to it seems to have power but it won't power on. I have placed the cloned drive in another similar Dell that only has the one small back panel to remove and it's working fine. I have taken this one apart and put it all back together again, checking all connections but I can't figure out what I did! The battery is good. I put it in another laptop and it works. Power cord works. Any ideas?

Underneath the keyboard, the screw in the top right corner seems to no longer fit when I try to put it together after replacing the hard drive. Like it doesn't grab. Any advice? Thanks!

Probably you put the long screen in another hole. Make sure you push the keyboard down a bit so the screw takes the keyboard hole.

GREAT VIDEO ! i need to replace the dc jack as it is no longer charging with 3 different charges and also not fitting them all the way inside the JACK . ANY chance you can upload how to remove and install the jack or i should just get to the point where u got in this video , and look on what's holding the port in order to replace it ? if u can just show it ( like with a red marker over the video or something like that ) , that would be awesome ! thank you

I missed that part, but I will create a new video for you doing that. On minute 10, from right to left the first port is the DC jack under the metal bracket. Lift the metal bracket slowly. Remove any possible screw on top of the dc jack. if there is not any, just lift the jack port. after that follow the connector and slide it out of the motherboard. Remember the dc jack is the slim port next to the metal bracket.

xlearntechnow no it slid right out. There was a very slight resistance sliding it out. Less than the clip on the keyboard flex cable

Better to removed all screws to perform any job inside the laptop. If you want to upgrade just the ram (with the risk of braking the housing the laptop) You can try to lift the back housing and put your fingers inside. Check my video to see on which spot the ram slots are. Or take it to a near electronic shop so they can drill down that screw, destroyed and removed it.

I do not recommend you putting two ssd on this laptop with a connector expansion in the same sata port - I think is not possible either. I never had an issue with it, I had issues with a silver one model core i7 processor. I completely forgot which model was it. By any chance can you provide me a better explanation what was the issue exactly? . Do you think that maybe the power on your house or wall connector is causing damage to it. When trying to charge your laptop,the part where you connect your power plug ro the laptop wont connect to charge your laptop. You will need to change out that part on the laptop itself. Apparently their is a service bulletin on this.

If you have the knowledge to soldier it into the motherboard, you should be able to add it with not problem. If you see so far you have an empty spot available to add it on the motherboard. hey there!!! mine also is the same laptop,,but it has an extra 2gb AMD graphic card of r5 M430 ddr3 , and of i5 7th gen ,4 gb of ddr4 ram.. now my concern is " 1)i want to install hyperx fury 2400ghz chips..but i dont know which kingston ram model will set for my laptop.. and also .. the dimentions of each of kingston ram models are different.. and in this videos i ve seen that ,at ram slot b , only ddr4 DIMM is mentioned .. but in hyperx ram chips it has given as UDIMM.. can it be safe if we use UDIMM instead of DIMM. 2) since i have got a AMD R5 M430 card (** shit) in my pc...can i replace it with an nvidia card...suggest me a good one" i hope ull solve my problems ..since these are being a huge pain for me. ill be soo thankful to you if you solve this burdains of mine.

I recommend to check all the power option settings, update the operating system, and check the BIOS version you have and maybe considering upgrading to a new one. Excellent video, thanks. My sister has this exact laptop but it came with only 6GB of RAM. Just upgraded it to 16GB for her and this video made it super easy. Thanks again! UPDATE: Just used this video again to upgrade the slow 5400 RPM HDD with a super-fast SSD all for $94 ($88 for the SSD and $6 for the cable to clone the drive). Again, fantastic video. One question, do you have a recommendation for a WiFi card upgrade? We have Gigabit internet at home but with the Dell Wireless DW1707 card she's only getting 30-35 Mbps download speeds. Thanks.

@@xXJCastXx1 Yes it does, but the RAM isn't the only thing I upgraded for her. I also swapped the regular 5400 RPM hard drive for a blazing fast SSD and now it boots up in around 6-8 seconds and all the applications load incredibly fast! I highly recommend both upgrades. The 2 RAM modules (Kingston - KCP424SS8/8) were $60 total and the SSD (Western Digital Blue 3D NAND 1024GB Internal 2.5" SATA - WDS100T2B0A) was $88 (plus a $6 cable from Amazon to clone the drive).

Check to see if you still have warranty with Dell. If you don't, try to troubleshoot it. Did you buy it brand new? Have you ever opened it?. Remove the battery, remove the charger and hold the power button for 33 seconds, let me know if you have the same results. Once you open it make sure all the flex are all the way in. Make sure the memory ram is properly installed. Make sure the hard drive is not causing the issue, and could be possible that you have a defective touchpad.

When you remove the screws of the metal piece support. You have to remove the 4 screws that are on the side of the hard drive. So will be 8 screws in total. Watch minute 7:50 -->. Do no forget to remove the flex connect to the motherboard and please subscribed. Take care

Yes. Unfortunately you have to removed the keyboard to be able to removed the 2 screw under to separate the top part with bottom. If not you can damage the laptop.

That depends on the year of the laptop that you have or the specific model. Some of them looks similar, but they have different setup inside. I recommend you to open it and check it inside. On this specific one you can replaced your hard drive for SSD and they sell a DVD adapter where you can removed your DVD unit and put a second solid state drive on it. Yes you can install a SSD to replaced your current hard drive or get an adapter to use your dvd sata port. Dell sometimes make few changes in the different processors and models for their laptops or desktop. Sometimes you have to test things by yourself. Because sometimes manufactured limited some upgrades (not sure because marketing, just because they prevent failure on their machine or they did not even test it) before was macbook pro were upgradeable, I upgraded my laptop to 16GB and my iMac to 32GB of RAM (By apple was not possible, just lie). The same happens to me with a dell laptop UP to 16GB, I had a core I7 processor, I put 32GB of ram and worked fine. My best recommendation buy the ssd and upgrade it. Please subscribe

Majority of the Dell screws are standards in majority of their laptops. You can try to buy them in Amazon or Ebay. Or go to a local repair laptop shop. Probably they have some bad laptop and maybe the can sell you the screw

How are you today? I hope you are good. When I removed the heatsink metal black part from the processor. You can see there is a thermal conductive pads for the small chipset (video) . Before putting the metal heat sink, you have to removed the old thermal paste and apply new thermal paste to the processor. I hope you subscribed.
