Thanks so much for this review! Cannot believe how cheap these things are!!! Just one question - are they quiet under light/medium loads?

I bought Inspiron 16 plus (7640) . It is heating so much on my first day of laptop. It heats up minutes and I don’t even play video games. It takes so much time to load applications..
@ComputerStuff8 сағат бұрын
Try updating both the bios and the graphics card. See if that helps. If it doesn’t, then you may have gotten a lemon. Send it back for replacement.

Thx for the review. I’m more in interested buy in 7640 2-in-1. It seems that no one has reviewed it yet.

@ComputerStuffАй бұрын
inspiron 16s are built better than the 15s
@jo85858Ай бұрын
specs say it comes with 16 GB RAM, but unlike other models this should be extendable. Can you confirm if there are SODIMM slots to add more RAM - and what configuration is the 16 GB in - is it 1x 16GB module and I can add another one? Or is it 2x 8GB, so I have to replace both in order to get to 32 gigs ?
@Ashr.lib1330Ай бұрын
Yes ram is expandable and you have to remove both slots for 32 gb which is the max supported

Thank you! This is just the model I was considering. Hearing that you are getting very few complaints with this relieves me, because I was trying to find reviews on forums and I could see many comments telling you not to buy Dell Inspirons due to poor build quality, and I was wondering how representative are these comments. How do regard the reliability of this laptop? I know it may be hard to answer since you probably got it not so long ago, but do you think it will likely deteriorate fast? The hinges may break easily (is it plastic)? I am trying to go for something that lasts for long and my Inspiron 15 5559 from about 8 years ago has definitely achieved that
@ComputerStuff2 ай бұрын
Having now sold a little over 100 of these units we haven't had one come back yet (although to be fair they're new) but with that said the hinge build isn't plastic like it is on HPs or older Inspiron 15s, so I dont think you'll have issues with the hinges. Reliability should be solid with easy to service parts. I'd have no problem recommending or buying this laptop for myself.

@@ComputerStuff I have finally got this 5645 model with AMD and wanted to ask if you've heard about it overheating. Mine gets hot after a few minutes even if I am running no apps at all, especially on the right side above the keyboard. I can deal with it, but I'm not sure if this is normal to be happening right out of the box. Would like to know if it's like this with this series of laptops or if it's some sort of issue with mine.

Hi Chris great video. While checking refurbished deals on the Dell website, I am now even more confused which one to get whether a ryzen or an i7 or an i5 a P and U processor. Some have the better screen as well. I have just listed below a few, any recommendations which one you would choose in priority. 1. Intel Core 13th Generation i5-1340P Processor (12 Core, Up to 4.60GHz, 12MB Cache, 28W) with 16 inch QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 16:10 2.5K Wide View Angle Anti-Glare 300-nits 2. Intel Core 13th Generation i7-1360P Processor (12 Core, Up to 5.00GHz, 18MB Cache, 28W) with 16 inch FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 Wide View Angle Anti-Glare 300-nits 3.AMD Ryzen 7 8840U Processor (8 Core, Up to 5.10GHz, 24MB Cache, 28W) with 16 inch FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 WVA Anti-Glare 250-nits ComfortView 4. Intel Core 13th Generation i5-1334U Processor (10 Core, Up to 4.60GHz, 12MB Cache, 15W) with 16 inch FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 Wide View Angle Anti-Glare 250-nits I will be using it as a office backup laptop and some photo editing. Ideally a laptop which does not get too hot and have fans ruining the ambience.

That's a tough bag but I'd look in Dell's lineup. If you're open to Apple maybe a refurbished MacBook Air 15.

I have the Inspiron 16 5630 (previous generation) and I like how they now brought back the 10 key numeric pad and it seems like this new version has upgradeable RAM. Unfortunately I only got my 5630 with 8 GB of RAM and it's soldered. They did seem to take one step backwards with the USBc vs mine which has the Thunderbolt 4 port.
@ComputerStuffАй бұрын
I think they ditched it to encourage people to go to the PLUS model :(
@Ashr.lib1330Ай бұрын
Which model of 5630 are you using i5 or i7, are you facing any issues like heat management or anything else?
@user-we8ku1kt5fАй бұрын
@@Ashr.lib1330 I have the i5 version. It runs very warm when I use it on my lap so I avoid it. I was facing heat issues at the beginning but it's been better after changing back to the balanced power mode. Tried the high performance mode for a few days and it lead to overheating so I switched back. The RAM is mostly the only issue otherwise, but changing the settings on Chrome and Edge so that they put unused tabs to sleep has helped.
