I picked up the same 3551 someone was throwing away and it had the same black screen with the light on. I took the memory out and cleaned the terminals and blow out the memory slot and reinstalled it and it worked for a while and then started the black screen again. I ordered an 8gb memory and that fixed it. I went ahead and got a 1TB SSD and a quad-core CPU mainboard for it also. Now I have a great notebook.

ooh, I actually have a laptop right now with the same problem as that, and I'm just an amateur tech, and I don't have the tools yet just like yours. I was able to figure it since, it didn't display anything yet, the laptop is charging. I'm an I.T Graduate and I like to fix this kind of issue. and I wanna learn and explore things more. thanks for your help.

Sir, one question, did you just do a "short-trip" while checking the voltage on the power supply? So that the laptop would turn on?

Hello sir i have a dell inspiron 3576.i bought it 10months back and yesterday i opened it and cleaned the mother board using 70% isopropine alcohol using ear buds and put it back.left it for 1hour and later tried to power it on and saw caps lock light is on for 1 minute and no signs of turning on. I tried cmos methods,removing ram methods,keep pressing on power button removing bat method, re assembling all the parts, removing hard disk but still no use .so what do you think, did my power ic is damaged or could it be any other issue ????

hello, my laptop also wont turn on, i often use my laptop plugged in with the charger without the battery and then suddenly it shut itself down, it wont turn on. when i put back the battery it charges but still wont turn on, what is the problem with my laptop? my laptop is dell 3451 almost the same as this

Wow I never seen dell without a fan I used to like dells but battery issues put me off wonder if they don't put a fan in a amd laptop with all the heat they kick out would be dangerous? Hello sr. my dell which is an Inspiron 5759 suddenly died not power on. the strange thing is that I thought was the ac adapter because every time I connected the green light on the adapter goes off like a were a short-circuit so I got another one thinking that was the problem and still doing the same. I did a short test removing the battery, pushing the bottom for 1-minute exchange memories and nothing still not responding and the ac adapter is okay what else could be the problem? or anyone reading this can help me out giving directions..thanks in advance..have a great day!

They all have 2 range of laptops, good laptops for businesses and rubbish for cunsumers. Good choice of OS by that customer. Linux runs a lot better on those low-end machines.

Dells sold in big stores are not Dells as we know them. From the mid-2000s rubbish machines with a Dell logo appeared with weak CPUs, large HDDs and very small RAM. While HP have habitually badged utter rubbish the tendency for Dell to have made some similar deals has dented their reputation but these deals seem to be less common now in 2021 -- at least in western Europe.

Alienware.....built by Dell. I had an old Alienware, built by Clevo. Took desktop CPU and memory! Battery lasted 30 minutes.
