Didn't film the backlit keyboard install, sorry. This is probably the last upgrade I'm doing to this laptop for a good while, so no upgrade series this time.

Well my DELL E6420 freezes all the time. It must be because it only has 4 GBs of RAM. Thanks for the instructions to upgrade it to 8 GB or better. That would probably fix the freezing issue.

Nice one, i had 2Gb of ram in mi latitude e6420 and i baught a a kingston hyperX 4Gb ram stick on ebay and put it in with the defat as it was the sane speed and it works perfectly 👍

Well....It depends on how much you can find one of these for. I got mine for pretty darn cheap ($300) so I couldn't pass it up.

They're the same speed...they have to be. This laptop only uses 1333MHz. That said, I'm, pretty sure the timings are different. I don't need 2 more GB, and I'd rather just have matching pairs.

So getting the bottom off, did you take every single screw out of just most of them? Could you show what you unclicked to get the RAM out and how you push it back in so I don't break something? The Devil is in the Details.

there are latest ddr5 ram,ddr4 ram,ddr3 ram,ddr 2 ram, ddr 1 ram. which kind of ram can be inserted into Dell Latitude e6420 series laptop. and which kind of SSD can be inserted into it. sata 3 or 2. do its motherboard has a slot for nvme ssd.thanks.

it WILL work, all ddr3 ram is compatible with each other pretty much i use a 512mb stick and a 2gb stick in my mecbok and it works fine, the 512mb stick and the first 512mb of the 2gb stick is dual channel, the other 1.5gb is single channel

Obviously that is an expensive purchase I don't need to make. This E6420 is very powerful, more than enough for me and can't argue for what I paid for it.

Latitude E6420? At the start you say it's a Latitude E6400. Then you pull out 2gb ram and say it's pc2. pc2 works in the E6400 but the E6420 uses pc3 ram.

Never once has mine crashed with 16gb ram.Pure rocket.Only prob i ever had was with an i7 that just gets way too hot no matter what you do to Kool it down.

this is an odd question. and I doubt you even know the answer but...do you think this laptop can run ps2/gamecube emulators without much lag? my friend Josh is thinking about getting it and the ability to play emulators without lag is his main concern. neither of us have the laptop (he's thinking of getting it) so we can't test it...

EmperorZarikar It definitely can. I have this PC currently just using the default 4GB of RAM and I was able to run the Dolphin emulator perfectly. I could play Melee just fine, and I was even able to play Project M with nearly perfect FPS definitely at a highly playable level

Yeah it's not terrible. Would have been nice to have the Quadro but oh well, it runs cooler and has better battery life so I'm not complaining. Oh, right haha

its decent for a embedded GPU - flash is mainly CPU heavy - you can play the most intense flash games on a Core Duo with a gma 500 haha

This is a dumb question but are there different types of ddr3 ram? like a laptop or mobile version as opposed to a desktop ddr3? I have 4 gigs of ddr3 ram laying around and I want to buy one of these with 2 gigs of ram since they're like $50 less than the same laptop with 4 gigs for some reason.

It's integrated, there is no way to upgrade it. So what you wanna do is get a laptop with more power. This thing isn't built for gaming.

No, HD3000. This is Sandy Bridge, the E6430 is Ivy and thus has HD4000

Ryan Gehret just changed it and for some reason my 8 gb ram wasnt detected. I removed battery, one stick and one ram and then put 8gb ram into it. When i go to this pc it say 2gbs. Rip.

This video would have been perfect if the guy didn't skip the unscrewing and popping off the cover part. I just upgraded my Dell e6420 i7 to 16gb of ram from 4gb Several places online says 8gb is the max, but that isn't the case. My computer is flying in loading times. Bought two 8gb for $22 each from Amazon.

This model of dell only supports 8gb of ram so you can out 16 in it but it will only use 8. So.

@@kevinanderson7736 having owned 4 of these paticular laptops I can say its completley true. You can install 16gb of ram and it will show up in the Windows System manager that it has 16gb, but when doing any kind of memory intensive tasks as soon as it hits 8gb of usage it will crash. So yes you can put 16gb in it, but like I said before it can only use 8gb.

@@Stelio_Contos Mine never crashed Cory.I checked the stats when running and it used every bit of the 16gb ram.Played many games at 60fps,even tried fortnite at low settings.I finally sold nine and the gent i sold to was a graphics designer and he absolutely loved it .Now i have the i7 which i am re-pasting for excessive heat.Using a penny on the 4200m and temps are at 42c no load.I have no idea why yours crashed,maybe different version.

Well then, for about $150 you can get a Dell Latitude D630, those are good workhorse laptops. Just make sure you get one with Intel graphics (the nVidia ones die) For a bit more you can get a Latitude E6400.

No, because I bought one last year and it wasn't the greatest. If I buy a new laptop, it'll be a Latitude with extra shit, so well over $1000. This is fine for the next 2 years or so. Of course if I get an opportunity to buy a new one before then I will, but this is a pretty sweg laptop.
