thanks so much for this! it turns out my problem was, I had put the spring in the infuser back in upside down when I was cleaning it last week. When I seen you pop out the little spring I felt liken idiot haha. But at the same time after having all apart I now I have the confidence to fix the machine in the future no mater what problems come up. great video

HELP!!! Thanks for the very informative video! This is exactly (almost) what I was looking for. I only say "almost" as my ESAM4500 units (I think) have the previous version of the generator/boiler with only one heating element. Regardless, your detailed information provided what I needed to make repairs to my two units. Both units were not plugged but were just leaking during espresso making. With one, I replaced the entire generator/boiler as the unit was in very bad shape. I'd done this many years ago and your video, along with some pre-disassembly photos I'd taken, were great refreshers on the R&R procedure. All worked out great! The worst part is getting the nut and washer engaged to the two main mounting bolts at the rear of the generator/boiler. I had success by first attaching the front two mounting bolts to get it into position. Then I laid the machine on its side. This orientation placed the ends of the two rear bolts in a slightly elevated angle. Then, using double-stick tape wrapped around my finger, I first stuck the washer to the tape and guided my finger into the very tight space to install the washer to the tip of the bolt. Then, I repeated by sticking the nut onto the tape and was able to get the nuts threaded onto the rear bolts. I suppose a long and very skinny needle-nose pliers would have worked but I did not have one that would work. On the second unit I rebuilt the generator/boiler as it was in very good shape with no noted blockages. Wow, there are a TON of O-rings in there!!! Anyway, after replacement of the O-rings, all went back together just fine. All works well with one exception . . . While the repaired unit makes great espresso, the streamer/water dispenser is not working. It pumps up, I can tell it is pressurized, but nothing comes out of the spout. The spout is not blocked. I'm like 98% certain the steamer was working prior to my repair. Any insights on testing and corrective action would be appreciated. Regards, Rich

Hi mate. Thanks so much for this video. Have you ever experienced an ESAM3500 that wasn't producing nice hard pucks, but instead spilling wet coffee all over inside. Mine has been doing this for a while, even after I replaced the infuser and pump. My generator appears all good but may well be the problem, I just want to look at possible problems that are less expensive to fix! Best wishes. Rich

Thanks for this video, I've learned so much from this and your other videos. My esam3500 doesn't do anything when switched on other than display a message "Press OK". I press OK,the screen goes blank for a moment and then the message appears again. I power off, the brew unit moves around doing it's thing, no rinse and then switches off. I've serviced the heater block as you described, I even went as far as opening the heater unit and cleaned it as well. I've serviced the infuser and brew unit. I've serviced the transmission. I tested the pump and after all this, when I switch on, only the message appears. When I go into the diagnostics, when I test the pump, it'll stop and the message will appear, I'll power down and go back into diagnostics, try EV1 or EV2 and it'll come on for a moment and then the message appears again. At some point after doing all the servicing, everything worked in diagnostics mode and though my machine would work, but it didn't. Same message appeared. I'm very sad now . Can you please suggest something? Thanks again for your videos. Keep it up.

Great video, thanks! I have this issue intermittently when machine turns on/runs a clean cycle. When that happens, pump sounds a little weird. Changing to steam clears the error and it works fine afterwards. Other time, it finishes the clean cycle without issues/errors. Any thoughts on what could cause it just on start-up?

So I get this message as well have done descale etc interesting part is my hot water feature blows mostly steam a little water afterwards then shuts off and back to the same message what would you say the problem is. Hi I have problems with my machine it is delonghi magnifica 3500S it shows this message while frothing the milk, I don’t really know what can it be.

I Have a strange one where my machine has started to make very weak coffee AFTER I have cleaned, replaced the o rings and lubed up the infuser parts including the plunger and spring behind the castle plug. I also replaced the main O ring of the tamper on the generator. Sometimes the puck is whole and wet, sometimes a bit dry and in bits , and sometimes wet and gets scattered all over the machine. The amount of liquid in the cup corresponds to how much the manual says should be in there so I'm not suspecting any blockages of the water flow. I also took apart the tamper part of the generator and didn't find any blockages or signs of water in there. To add I live in a very soft water area and descale when the machine tells me to so limescale is never an issue. Inserting a tab into the door switch so I could watch what was going on with the door open, I noticed occasionally the infuser doesn't come all the way up before the puck extraction lever operates so only about 3/4 of the puck gets knocked into the bin. The infuser then comes up flush and the lever's return stroke flicks the rest all over the insides of the machine. Why the movement of the infuser gets out of sync and kind of stutters and only occasionally I can not tell. I have also greased the metal worm at the back in case the infuser was getting stuck somehow. Annoyingly this only started happening after I thought I'd do the right thing and give everything a good clean but that could be coincidence. I'm really running out of ideas and can't find any info on this particular problem especially as most youtube videos just say to clean and lube the infuser which I have done. In summary there are two problems. 1. Poor coffee extraction which happens all the time and 2.The occasional puck mess Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks. ESAM5400 btw.

Thanks for this great video it's really informative. My Delonghi ESAM 5500 is happy making Espresso's but refuses to dispense how water, steam milk or descale. It displays the 'grounds too fine' message. Looking inside the machine everything seems to be clean and tidy so I have no idea where I should focus my attention. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA
