This is an excellent video. I tried everything you suggested to remove the bonnet nut. Could not get it to turn and did not want to break the pipes to the valve by turning too hard. That's the best tip of all. In any event, I needed to take my dremel and carefully cut the bonnet nut off, taking care to make sure I didn't touch the valve body while cutting. Once the nut was cut nearly all the way through I was able to take a flat head screwdriver and insert into the cut and turn, which broke/opened up the nut for removal. I would just add to what James the Plumber says in the video. I lubricated all the parts well when reassembling with Magic Lube (any plumber grease will work). The ball, springs, and especially the threads of the bonnet nut so the next person will be able to remove it!

I'm glad that you enjoyed my video. I'm glad that you mentioned lubricating all the components of the valve. I actually lubricanted everything prior to the start of the video with a clear silicone lube. I forgot to mention that when I was putting it back together.

The price varies depending upon your location and availability of a plumber. Normally, I charge $150-$200 which includes parts, labor, and tax.
