I started to get that feeling as well with his mention of the world locking 'his' reality away. That is what you would usually want is to prevent the rest of your game world from knowing something akin to 'an eldritch/forbidden truth' that could drive one mad. His fall to madness isn't helped either by him being used to the *freedom* of bending the rules due to his 'role'. But, then I learned that he is a literal wild card that's usually 'locked away' from the vast majority of card games.

Keep in mind, Toby said these characters are new and have lived lives of their own. While we can see similarities and differences, pap and sans are 100% different than lancer and jevil. We'll just have to wait for the full game for his character to be expanded...so excited tho, Toby is worth the wait even if it hurts. :)

They are unique, but since they have the same creator, Toby Fox, they will show similarities to other characters he created. Lancer, for example, has a Papyrus like plot, but also takes Toriel's plot point of protecting the protagonists from King. King is designed to make us think he is Asgore, because Lancer likes him and he is the King, but if you pay attention in the game, his subjects hate him, and only serve him because he pays them and he is strong. King is described as cruel and cold blooded early on, but we are shocked when he hurts us after he is healed, because we expected King Fluffybuns but got a standard Dark Lord. Then there are minor characters, Seams has the same nihisim of Sans, but since he lost his only friend, he is not afraid to show it.

My memory failed me when I saw Seam's name, but as I pulled up Google to search up his name I remembered and said, "Oh yeah! It's that guy!" It was weirdly funny.
