The Lost Valley and Seeds of Memories are NOT harvest moon games. Natsume just kept the title to trick people into buying them. Story of Seasons is the rightful sequel to the Harvest Moon series.

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life will always be special to me. ❤ It has a compelling story, and lovable characters. It's a bit hard when starting and kinda slow paced, but I love how it imitates real life. All in all, Harvest Moon will always be one of my favorites... and now, I'm looking forward to Story of Seasons. 😊

I'd have to say Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life is my favorite. The music brings me such nostalgic feelings and was one of my favorite GameCube games. I remember coming home from school and playing for hours. When I found out about the girl version I saved up and bought that one since the original was my brother's. I'm hoping they re-release it on the Nintendo switch virtual GameCube console so I can play it again! I hope they make a game similar to AWL in the future as well. Great video. I know a lot of people love fast paced HM games but the slow paced ToT is my fav, I helps me chill and be calm and no matter what, I always smile when playing it

Nice video, but you forgot to mention one very important thing. Bokujo Monogatari, the true name of this series in Japan, and got the Natsume/Marvelous Interactive shenanigans not entirely correct. Natsume and Marvelous Interactive didn't split because of different vision about the series' future, but because Marvelous merged with another company (I forgot the company's name). The company Marvelous merged with owns a subsidiary company known as XSeed Games, and Marvelous got full control of XSeed after the merge. Marvelous then decided it would be better to have XSeed localize Bokujo Monogatari to the west through XSeed Games, since it saves more time and money since they practically own XSeed, but XSeed had to create a new name for the series in the west since Natsume still hold the rights to the Harvest Moon games, and that's how the name Story of Seasons was born. However, it's Story of Seasons that actually belong in the main Harvest Moon series, and not the Harvest Moon games since The Lost Valley, since Story of Seasons belong to the Bokujo Monogatari series in Japan, while Natsume' s Harvest Moon games are their own series

I love Magical Melody, I was hoping there was some form of remake or sequel here... 🥺 This series has so many different styles.

I grew up on HM 64 and HM Back to Nature, but my favorite is hands down HM Magical Melody.

Grew up with 64, Save the Homeland, and MFoMT. Gotta say though, watching my cousin play A Wonderful Life always made me a bit jealous and that game is weirdly nostalgic for me despite not having played it. I would play MFoMT on my GBA and she would play AWL on her gamecube. I was always a little jealous because while MFoMT was a very solid game, the world of AWL seemed so much more fun and charming.

HM64 is my favorite. Followed by Back to Nature. I remember being super psyched for A Wonderful Life. Followed news about it and posted in forums non stop. But ultimately I was disappointed by it. It seemed unfinished in some ways. I never beat it, because like you said it can become boring with nothing to do after several years. I think I made it to the first 3 year chapter before I fell off. Which is too bad because the overarching story was really touching. I feel like Magical Melody is probably the best one, just with the huge world, interesting characters and the fact that you can buy land and have multiple farming areas. I'm super excited for Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town. That set of characters are my favorite. I probably won't be able to resist marrying Karen again, as usual. I wish they hadn't changed the look of the characters so much, but whatever. Just a few more days! I started playing the series with HM64 when I was 11 or 12. Never thought I'd still be playing them in my thirties :P

Harvest moon: a wonderful life will always be one of my favorites because it was the first game in the series I played and it has so much nostalgia. But a new beginning is by far my favorite game in the series, I probably have over 500+ hours in that game spread over multiple playthroughs

My favorites were Save the Homeland, More Friends of Mineral Town, Magical Melody, Another Wonderful Life, Tree of Tranquility, and the newest Story of Seasons.

Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns was my first Harvest Moon game and I still love it so much, even if it does have a few things to complain about. Like the Harvest Goddess's reason to blocking out the tunnel and the cringey trash talk between the mayors.

I love animal parade the most I literally have nothing bad to say about it, would absolutely love a remastered version

I loved A wonderful life. It was my first harvest moon game and also the music and characters made me fall in love. The first time I beat the game I cried cause I didn't know you died and the game would end.

The music from these games brings me right back to my childhood playing AWL and Magical Melody on my gamecube. Gosh I miss that feeling

64 is the best one hands down. FOMT, BTN, and IAWL are close contenders.

You messed it up a bit. XSeed has been around for a long time, but since Marvelous had an in house translator in them, they decided to not use Natsume anymore.

my first exposure to harvest moon was HM DS, and i also picked up HM DS cute later. i liked both games and they really got me into the harvest moon series. I even went back later and picked up HM friends of mineral town/more friends of mineral town, and magical melody. I played almost all of the other harvest moon games from 2008 to now. i think i had the most enjoyment playing HM animal parade. the world was so big and the characters has different personalities. I loved the 2 male and 2 female character player options. the controls for the Wii were simple and i loved the graphics. the number of bachelors and bachelorettes and all there different personalities were so interesting and unique. 10/10 loved it.

Not really into LPs so I hope you make more vids like this. Great job!

I enjoyed this video as someone who has never played Harvest Moon but am thinking I might wanna try it out. But I realized you neglected to mention the one game I'm thinking of playing, which is Harvest Moon My Little Shop for the Nintendo Wii. It's a Wiiware game but still thought you'd mention it. It's not a side game like Rune Factory. But I enjoyed the video.

I'm kinda disappointed that this video didn't come out just a little later, and that it wasn't just a little more comprehensive. I'm fairly new to the Harvest Moon series as a whole. I'd have liked to see how Story of Seasons Trio of Towns compared, as well as the Rune Factory games.

This series underwent a lot of experimentation, adding and removing aspects of the game all the time, as well as changing the art style between 2D and 3D back and forth. Oddly enough, the original SNES Harvest Moon was one of the most well balanced and had gotten most of the key concepts right.

and now natsume has made the same game with some changes and publish it. Seeds of memories, skytree village and light of hope have almost the same town, yes, light of hope is bigger but that's it. They didn't even bother to change the sprites from skytree village to light of hope. Overall, for me natsume's "harvest moon" lost all the things I loved in the games, but Story of seasons still has them

Thanks for this video! I’ve played so many old harvest moon games on emulator many years ago! I even began collecting all the plushies I had missed previously from preorders. I tried the first Natsume attempt at HM, didn’t like it then later found out about the split. Got Story of Seasons soon after 👍 haven’t given Natsume money since.

My favorite is...Harvest Moon (SNES). I know that the other Harvest Moon games had other things that made it more better & it's been claimed by most fans that Harvest Moon 64 is the best game in the franchise, but there are reasons why Harvest Moon (SNES) is my favorite. 1) It's the 1st Harvest Moon game I played / owned 2) It was released in 1997, (2 years past the SNES's expiration year (Just like Kirby's Dreamland 3) meaning the graphics & music were pushed past the SNES's limits. 3) In my honest opinion. A great place to start for newcomers to the franchise. Because it's so simple, beginners will find it easier to play & enjoy before moving on to the other Harvest Moon games. So I highly recommend you play Harvest Moon (SNES) as your starting point, for all you newbies out there. 4) Nostalgia. SWEET😋, SWEET😋, NOSTALGIA😍

Started my Harvest Moon Journes with the GBC game and Harvest Moon Back to nature, I played those to games throughout my whole childhood, not even knowing there have benn new games availlable. But it never felt like I nedded something new, and my whole family was obsessed with the ps1 game, so I have very fond memorys of it. We even played it on the pc with an emulator many years after. When the wii came out I tried out a new Harvest Moon game, dont even know which one it was, it was just bad, so I think maybe it wasnt one from Marvelous. The Switch brought me back to this series, when Friends of minteralown came out I just freaked, because it has all those characters I wanted and loved for so many years. I still cant get enought of it. But I also like to play he new games of story of season, its just my type of game

Grand bazar is my favorite. The first one I played I think was melody something. It was something like that. And I got grand bazar from the memory of my first harvest moon game although being bad from lack of knowledge has a kid on how to do things and rushing in to things that unenviablely taught me to not rush through what's happening. so, you know, you don't press the wrong save slot so you're friend can play and then erase yours after repeated have attempts to figure out how to save in the first place. And redueingn everything over and over again till I decided I'm not doing that all again just because I was more stupid and erased everything.... but I loved the parts I played so, I thought I'd get this one for my dsi. I can remember the struggle from the saving problem. So many things that happened. I don't know if I cried, but I probably. I Was pretty upset after erasing my save. And that makes me want to cry now.... it's so sad, I struggle so much with it. - - - - Ok, so basicly grand bazar because it was the second chance to the game I loved but gave up on. Pretty good game if I say so myself. Only three or four, maybe five areas to go too. But it was still really fun. I think I wanted to marry durk, dirk? I don't remember his name, I just knew he was cute and I liked him. I never finished it though. I never seam to be able too. - - - - Oh gosh, I need to find someone who likes harvest moon so I can talk to them and not write a whole thing like I just did. - Ok bye. My favorite is grand bazar, I had like two horses for the game. Plushes from the series.

Despite Harvest Moon DS/DS Cute having awful stories and same graphics as FOMT, I actually really enjoyed it and it's definitely one of my favourite games. I like the idea of having to gather at least 60 harvest sprites to get married & save the goddess, it forces the player to work for goals and use all the mechanics in the game making it more enjoyable. Even though the boy version was a lot more buggy & collecting the sprites were unfortunately easier, the girl version that I always played was really difficult to get 60 and wow that was rewarding. The style and well known characters felt very old school and I hope natsume decides to go back to the rustic vibe other than going insanely "anime/childish" in the lost valley and seeds of memories. (Personally I just dislike the new style) Also in HMDS & Cute the little mini games like fighting your rivals in your dog house and hilarious things you could do like poisoning & killing the entire town just made it so unique and funny. Plus the whole mining aspect?! AMAZING!! I remember I'd always compete with my friends with how far we can go down in the mine & it was such a fun challenge.

Back to Nature is my fave. A Wonderful Life is the last "decent' game. The games always had a "fairy tale" like atmosphere about them, but were still rooted in semi realism. Post Wonderful Life, they all look like pure fantasy to the nth degree.

I hope it will be an amazing game since rumor saying that it will come to the PC, Switch and another console that I can't remember. If it's a nice game, I will buy a copy. Well Put together video. I'm a big fan of the series from way back on the first Game Boy Version. I say my most beloved Harvest Moon game would be Back to Nature as it being the one that I spent the most time on and gave me generally the most joy. But I would say A Wonderful Life is a close second. As it is looking I just picked up A New Beginning and Loving that maybe even more than A Wonderful Life. One Question though why isn't Innocent Life or Rune Factory Included. I thought Innocent Life SE was a good Game. Never tried rune factory though.

Harvest moon save the homeland is the best harvest moon game ever I can say the game has the best graphics in the entire series and the music is great. Well the map is so little and have a short gameplay and before you can achieve 9 endings you wouldnt see winter coming cuz i always ended up in autumn or summer. But its an old games anyway

Magical Melody is incredibly underrated

My first HM was HM DS then HM FoMT. I'm currently playing HM Skytree Village and after watching with video I understand the reason why it felt different to the HM I played. There's only, like, 3 places+The Gods and Goddess home and mines. The characters are cute and fine (I love them) and the quest are good. I liked the idea to terraforming your harvest camp(?) too(and, yes, the first thing I thought was "Omg, it became Minecraft!) but it takes days(in the game) to do so. But it's a good game. I think I'm going to try Story of Seasons too! ^_^... When I had enough money... Hahah....

My favorite in the series was AnWL, in every way except the bachelors, I think they could have picked better bachelors. The bachelorettes in AWL and AWLSE are examples of that. Sure most of the guys in forget-me-not were married, but there was an easy fix imo. Make the inn slightly bigger, extend the amount of time you have to marry a bit, and add travelling bachelors (new characters) who come and go from and to the inn, according to some kind of "schedule". This could also make another destiny for your kid, like taking over the farm, athlete, etc. Where your kid is a traveller. Also I wish the feature to have a daughter instead of a son from AWLSE was in AnWL.

17:34 the bazaar doesn’t occur every day for a limited time! if i remember right, it was every friday or saturday from around 10am-5pm? something similar to that. and you would have the whole week to prepare for the bazaar. it’s not the best game, but i like it better than the older ones, and it was also the first hm game i ever played 👀

HM64 is the most memorable to me, probably because of my own nostalgia. BTN was kind of a dream for me, meaning an upgrade on my favorite (despise the characters swap confusion). But nowadays, Stardew Valley really hits the spot!!

I still liked Harvest Moon: Friends of mineral town, so much secrets to discover, no matter how much you played it, you'll definitely have a goal to do list. Like he said, it's like a fan base and really fast paced game with lots of things to do, but in time you'll get bored of it. Good job for a 2003 game. To be honest i thought it was a 2007 game. Anyways also i though the developers were going to create another game with similarities like that game, but while they were so busy with the gameplay, that they forgot about how much people loved the classic graphic with lots of secrets, giving a multiplayer might be a next level gameplay if you ask me, if they could figure sth out. But too late, since they departed
