Love that this detox goes from reflecting on the delve itself, to regarding the nature of hard and soft power as it relates to the history of Arden Vul. Really speaks well of not only this group, but the amazing detail Barton put into the dungeon.

I love all of David's theories and Ted just sitting there taking it all in. The guys always do such a good job of explaining how they think about the game. I appreciate that they allow us to share those insights. I am looking forward to seeing how they build David's secret door. I am sure Mort will have no problem taking out Wilfred 😂

David going full tinfoil mode, love to see it. The dungeon invites speculation and hermeneutics by virtue of being so deeply thought through: a true marvel of game design.

Very appropriate title Jon! Looking forward to when they discover that the real aliens were the friends we made along the way. In all seriousness though, David's wild ideas are probably handy for Mike to contrast with everyone's original, more terrestrial/generic fantasy takes as the AV club was first exploring. Really good idea of his to start rewatching. I'm imagining a directors commentary track of David just pointing at everything as you are describing it and yelling "fricking aliens from mars man, I'm telling ya! It's all connected!" *Yrtol's ruined Archintian watchtower is a space elevator*

I mean if David's character died again, at least Upior was only level one right? So you are having Upior build the secret door? I mean, you won't have to kill him, David will do that on his own right? Dragon? Dragon! We don't worry about stinking dragon. I'm going to get a spaceship with pew pew lasers and show the dragon what's what! ~ Me doing my best to channel David. Best part of this is Ted, sitting back taking it all in, and making mental notes & plans. I love all 3d6 Down The Line videos!

One thing to consider is the various forces that have had an impact on the dungeon. You have Arden and Vuhl. Marian Tricotor and his forces. The occupation. Adranix and the reclamation force that failed. The beastmen fit somewhere in there. And all the current people inhabiting the ruins. The hoppers are another thing as well. The Thothians built the upper levels yes, but other forces have built other levels and that might give you clues. I don't think everything is homogenous. I think some things are interconnected and others stand alone- like the arden trials room is very specific to Arden and the Arcontian occupation (maybe the trolls got mad?), which I think may correlate to something to do with the hoppers given the various iconography seen of people like the worthies fighting salamander things.

I don't like the crash theory, because it posits a world in which a damaged vessel can fall with exactly the right loss of control to avoid being obliterated, enough force to be buried entirely inside a cliff face and yet still be both level and upright with respect to the ground topside. At that point you might as well open a Milliways.
