Honestly, if not for the mysterious mother-queen, the beastmen look like such good allies. I do still like the goblins but they've proved time and time again that they're one misstep away from you ending up as "Goblin wants, goblin gets". Still, they are such a fun and powerful bunch... It'll be interesting to see how the story develops from here faction wise.

I kind of like the fact that there are no easy choices here when it comes to factions. No one group is totally going to be a good choice, at least out of the groups that we know of so far. This keeps things interesting in Arden Vul.

I love all 3d6 Down The Line videos! The Delving is great for enjoyment and seeing how to play. The Detox is great for learning the thoughts behind why/how they do what they do. It is awesome, educational, and I think it should be mandatory viewing for new players so they can learn how to role play. Jon, expert DM, expert magician, expert mathematician, is there anything he is not expert at? Jon the polymath? Why are you not introducing yourself with your title? "Hi, my name is Jon, the polymath, I am your referee for the evening and going around the horn we have..." Mike forgot to mention his absolute favorite part of playing even more than factions, even more than delving, is shopping. Watching Mike during shopping episodes makes me believe he orders all of his stuff online or for delivery. (I am just making a joke, please do not take it seriously Mike. If I have gone too far, please forgive me and let me know so I don't do it again). So how often are the goblins talking to a demon for information/knowledge? What type of information can they get? Can they get the location of the goblin scepter (I am guessing not or the king would have it by now) or does he just answer yes/no questions? How did they get access to the demon? Did they trap it or take control of the area after removing whoever trapped it? So many questions and so many directions to go which is why this is must watch D&D (hope you don't take offense to me calling it D&D. To me, medieval fantasy is D&D no matter the name of the game). Tuesday cannot come soon enough!

Another interesting discussion. In my own time as a player, dm, and in watching different actual plays, I have found that I start to feel like faction play kind of feels like a drain on my energy and the fun of the game when there are no good option, when nobody actually feels like someone you could feel any true kinship and loyalty for and when it feels like the game is actively forcing the characters to become less heroic because there is no heroic option (but I totally see that this is very much a personal preference/escapist fantasy lol). Dealing with the Goblin king this time, definitely felt more like "you guys had the goblins right all along" than the moment of euphoric "omg allies, this guy is pretty cool!" from the last meeting. But this mother person sounds... creepier? Oh boy... lol.

IMO, the reason why faction politics in rpging typically doesn't present a clearly positive faction to be loyal to is so that the players have the impetus to create the faction that they want to see. That does run the risk of seeming a bit ‘grimdark’ but I think a GM can modify most factions if they want one to be better than presented. After all, most factions are shades-of-gray type things and it’s not that hard to lighten up the grays whenever desired.

@@josephbrowning4220 Yeah, I can absolutely see that, especially in games where players building their own faction/stronghold etc. is one of the goals. Because clearly, this encounter with the goblin king also had me thinking immediately "well, depose him and take over the goblins", only that comes with the more issues lol and definitely would interfer with the fun of just delving. It's come up in several detoxes, but its a strange tensions in games like this that I am still trying to understand better, with most of my experience in 5e, where that seems less of an issue in most games (unless people import Followers and Stronghold rules).

All that the AV club needs to do is depose the current king and elevate Mort. Then, they can introduce the “War Machine” rules from the Companion set.

I think the rest of the party was fortunate that the resident chaotic evil magic user was not in attendance when they met the demon.

What about if Mort was to find the scepter, and the King was to, how shall we say…. Have an unfortunate accident?… Perhaps a more lasting, and more forthright relationship with the Beastmen could be possible if there was an Imperial Goblin on the throne (backed of course by his advisers - the AV Club).

Been waiting for this all week! I work every other week and on my days off binging AV has been my thing, so sad to have caught up 😢. I might have to go and rewatch episodes to fill in blanks for lore and info. Love the actual play, in AV the turn over is so high that you need to meta a bit to survive. It'd just be death otherwise. Plus it's not like the characters can't say and discuss things in the hour from point A to B. Can't wait for next episode! It's getting juicy in AV. I'm personally a big fan of the beast men with their whole legion and honour etc. Plus in WH fantasy I've always been a big Brettonian fan, so instead of the lady I can call out to the Mother!

Yes, and it's incorrect. (The demon is wrong.) The integral of e to the x from 0 to infinity does not exist as the area below the curve is infinite, thus isn't the value the demon claimed. However had the demon switched to the integral of e to the negative x miraculously the area under the curve, and hence the integral, would be exactly 1 (even though the region has infinite width.) It's a Calculus 2 problem from the improper integrals section of whatever text you're using.
@davidnacin7777
@davidnacin7777 2 ай бұрын
Actually, the more likely result is that the demon knows calculus well, but was so evil that it lied intentionally so that the goblins would fail their Calc AP exams.

@@davidnacin7777 I don't have anything approaching calculus level of mathematical understanding. But could it be construed that if the equation results in an impossible value/NaN/null, it's a negative/false/no?
