The correct genealogy is as follows: Maad Ndaah Njemeh Joof's sons: **Maad Niokhorbaye Joof (king of La, Baol) **Yungari Joof **Mangi Joof Maad Niokhobaye Joof's son: **Maad Patar Xole Joof (King of La & Teigne of Baol) - married Lingeer Mane Niane, and their children are: **Maad a Sinig Niokhobaye Mane Niane Joof (King of Siin) **Gejopaal Mane Niane Joof (King of Siin) **Bukar Cilas Mane Niane Joof (prince of Siin; he was also a Tilas/Cilas, third in line to the throne) **Lingeer Siga Paal Mane Niane Joof (princess of Siin) The above people are in the late 14th century with the exception of the patriach Maad Ndaah Njemeh Joof also known as Buur Ndaah Njemeh Joof/Juuf who was in the late 13th century (ca. 1290). The griot then jumped several centuries by saying that Lingeer Siga Mane Niane Joof (a 14th century princess of Siin) was the mother of Choro, Semou Njekeh Joof's grand mother. That is just ridiculous. Semou Njekeh Joof was an 18th century prince of Siin from the Joof and Gelowar royal family. He was the founder of the Royal House of Semou Njekeh (the last royal house founded by the Joof family during the Gelowar period). How can a 14th century princess be the grandmother of a 18th century prince? This is just stupid. Instead of going to Siin to learn the history well as well as reading written sources, you prefer to stay in the capital city Dakar spewing nonsense. I am very disappointed with these young griots especially those who prefer to live in the comfort of the city without doing what ancient griots used to do - travelling the width and breathe of the country acquiring knowledge and interviewing people. Very disappointing! I was expecting a lot from him expecially when he mentioned IFAN in his opening statement. Although the iinitial genealogy and history of the Joof family he gave (i.e. Maad Ndaah and his descendants) were correct with the exception of few dialect issues, it started to go down south when he gave the descendants of the princes Siga. It was from there that I knew this guy had no clue what he was talking about. Also, even the most recent genealogy of the Joof family he didn't get it right. He was right when he said that Choro was the mother of Buka Choro Joof, himself father of Semou Njekeh Joof who in turn married the princess Yandeh Mbouna and from that marriage, had Mahawa, Buka Cilas and Biram Pateh. However, he then went on to say that Biram Baro Joof (father of Souka Ndela Joof himself father of Maad a Sinig Kumba Ndoofeen Fa Maak Joof king of Siin from 1853 - 1871) was the son of Mahwa Yande Mbouna. This is wrong. Biram Baro and Mahawa are brothers. They are both sons of Semou Njekeh Joof. He also made another corruption with the Joof family's genealogy. Although he gave the correct siblings of Maad a Sinig Kumba Ndoofeen Fa Maak Joof i.e.his sisters - the princesses: Selbe Nyadi Joof, Goum Maak, and Goum Ndeb Joof), he mixed up their marriages by saying that Selbe was married to the hero Bukary Ngoneh Joof (the legendary hero who fell at Mbin o Ngorr in April 1867), and Goum Maak was married Ndaw Saghai Njie (also known as Ndupo Saghai). In fact, it was the other way round. The princess Selbe Nyadi married Ndaw Sangahi, and her sister Goum Maak married the hero Bukary Ngoneh Joof. Although the ofsprings given for these marriages were correct, the mothers were mixed up. This guy is a Tukuloor so he obvviously doesn't know anything especially about Seereer history. I really do not want to discourage him as he is very young but he still got a lot to learn especially when narrating the history and genealogy of notable families like the Joof family and a personality like Abdou Diouf. Also, why did they allow a young person like this to represent their family on national television? Couldn't Abdou Diouf's family fine a more experienced griot who knows the history and genealogy well?
